Passengers speak about Sturry Road Park and Ride reopening in Canterbury
Transcript
00:00 Very pleased to see it open. We're halfway home when you come to Sturry Road because obviously we live in Margate and
00:04 my friend lives in Ramsgate and we car share to come in. So this is absolutely priceless.
00:09 Before this opened, how was your journey into work?
00:11 Absolutely awful because obviously you'd have to traipse all the way across Canterbury and if they're trying to cut down emissions
00:17 and at the end of the day, that's not really a good shout because you're traveling all the way into Canterbury just to come all the way back.
00:24 Sometimes when the traffic's really bad, when you're coming down Reims Way, it can take you over an hour to get through there,
00:31 let alone get the rest of your journey done. I think a lot of people don't know that it's open at the moment.
00:36 So, but yeah, if they advertised it a bit more because everyone's going to Sturry Road shut,
00:40 well, people aren't going to come here, are they? And I think they were worried at one point there was vandalism going on.
00:46 We were worried about leaving the cars here, but at the end of the day, it is what it is.
00:50 You've got to take that chance. You can get that anywhere.
00:52 All the other ones are very, if you're coming from Dover, they're very hard to get to.
00:56 You have to, I've tried the Dover Park and Ride, you have to go all the way through country lanes, whereas this one's an ideal situation for us.
01:03 Transport into Canterbury is really difficult and it's quite expensive.
01:07 This is the cheapest alternative and it means that you don't have to go and park in Canterbury.
01:12 It's not something you were waiting for it to open back up. I don't think you would know what day it opened up.
01:19 So I think that might be why it's a bit quiet at the moment.
