00:00 The Peruvian Public Prosecutor's Office rejected President Dina Baluerta's claim
00:10 of unconstitutionality in relation to the search of her residence.
00:26 In Haiti, at least 4.97 million people face levels of acute food insecurity due to food
00:32 shortages.
00:38 And in Palestine, Israeli occupation forces continue illegal raids.
00:42 On Saturday night, they arrested more than 25 civilians in the occupied West Bank.
00:52 Hello and welcome from the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:57 We begin with the news.
00:58 Peruvian Public Prosecutor's Office rejected on Sunday President Dina Baluerta and her
01:03 defense claims of illegality and unconstitutionality in relation to the search of her residence.
01:11 The government agency reiterated that the search had been ordered by the nation's
01:15 Supreme Court and rejected as untrue the defense allegations that the police had conducted
01:20 the search inappropriately.
01:22 The prosecutor's office also said Dina Baluerta's son, Daniel Gomez Baluerta, had been informed
01:28 about the search and that he delayed the entry to the residence.
01:32 According to the investigations, the Rolex watch found in Baluerta's home was obtained
01:38 recently and has an estimated cost of over $10,000.
01:46 Meanwhile, social organizations in Peru supported the decision of the national public prosecutor
01:54 in relation to the case of alleged illicit enrichment involving President-designate Dina
01:59 Baluerta.
02:00 Members of the different social organizations came to the surroundings of the public prosecutor's
02:05 office in support of the prosecutor Juan Carlos Villena after the break-ins at Dina Baluerta's
02:12 house and in the government palace.
02:14 People attending questioned Baluerta for victimizing herself in her recent message to the nation.
02:20 They also demand justice and wonder that so far no investigations have been carried out
02:26 concerning the 50 demonstrators who died in the last protest against the government of
02:30 the President-designate.
02:31 Members of Congress of the Republic have submitted motions of presidential vacancy against Baluerta
02:40 for her moral incapacity.
02:47 Opposition legislators in Peru have presented a vacancy motion against de facto President
02:52 Dina Baluerta.
02:53 The motion was based on charges of permanent moral incapacity after investigations conducted
02:59 in the President's home and office found evidence leading to possible illegal gain.
03:04 Baluerta is accused of not declaring the use of expensive jewels, which are considered
03:09 above her income.
03:11 She was also declared in contempt of court for not complying with two prosecutor's office
03:15 suponers.
03:17 The motion now needs to be debated and approved by the nation's Congress.
03:28 The government of President Javier Milley has left 20,000 Argentine state workers on
03:34 the streets.
03:35 The unions warn of severe impacts on the provisions of services and rights violations of the most
03:40 vulnerable sectors of the population.
03:43 In contrast with the festive tone with which the President has been pleased over the layoff,
03:49 the unions warn that dismantling of the state will result in greater exposure of the population
03:55 and the productive apparatus to adverse weather conditions, as well as to the deterioration
04:00 of care for disabled people, groups with family problems or in processing of facial data.
04:06 Also informed that this Wednesday all workers in a coordinated manner will try to access
04:11 their workplaces.
04:21 In Haiti, at least 4.97 million people face levels of acute food insecurity due to food
04:28 shortages.
04:29 The United Nations World Food Programme warned that Haiti is closer to famine since one in
04:35 two people is hungry in the country and according to data 1.64 million people reached the emergency
04:41 category due to food insecurity.
04:44 According to sources, this shortage also affects hospitals that have a lack of supplies and
04:48 medications, unexperienced lack of water and electricity.
04:52 In this sense, the United Nations warned that criminal groups control 80% of port operands
04:58 and the main ports of the capital, which complicates access to food and other inputs, aggravating
05:03 the humanitarian situation on the island.
05:22 The government of Peru delivers a shipment of humanitarian aid to families affected by
05:27 an avalanche caused by the heavy rains registered in the last days.
05:31 The National Defence Institute reported that over 35 families were affected after the destruction
05:37 of more than 30 houses in San Juan Bautista municipality following the heavy rains that
05:42 triggered a creek and caused a landslide that affected several villages.
05:47 While the emergency is still ongoing, the local municipality delivered humanitarian
05:51 aid to the regional government to be distributed among those affected.
05:55 Meanwhile, meteorological authorities issued warnings in view of forecasts indicating upcoming
06:00 rainfall with moderate to heavy intensity levels in the central and southern highlands
06:05 of the country.
06:12 In Colombia, efforts continue to extinguish a forest fire of great proportions in San
06:17 Onofre municipality in the northern department of Sucre.
06:21 The fire, which started on March 28, has already burned approximately 1,000 hectares and caused
06:28 the evacuation of at least 50 people from the zone.
06:31 According to local authorities, the magnitude of this emergency is immeasurable, so they
06:36 ask the international government for more aerial support, water and various equipments
06:41 to control this huge fire that is already reaching the limits with Bolívar department.
06:47 In view of this situation, they urge the governor's office of the neighboring department to activate
06:52 its risk management protocols in case the fire spreads to that territory.

07:53 Welcome back.
07:55 In Palestine, Israeli occupation forces continue illegal raids.
07:59 On Saturday night, they arrested more than 25 civilians, including six women, in the
08:04 occupied West Bank.
08:05 The Commission on Detainees and Former Prisoners Affairs and the Society of Palestinian Prisoners
08:11 stated that the detention operations occurred in occupied Jerusalem, on the town of Hebron.
08:17 At least 16 Palestinians were arrested as they left the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
08:22 According to the organizations, the ongoing and increasing detention operations that began
08:26 after October 7th, targeting children, women, the elderly and the sick, were part of the
08:32 Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and their ongoing genocidal war against
08:37 Gaza.
08:43 In Palestine, the number of deaths increases to 34 due to malnutrition and dehydration
08:48 due to the lack of supplies in the north of the Gaza Strip.
08:52 Health authorities confirmed the death of four Palestinians, including two children,
08:56 in a hospital in northern Gaza due to the hunger crisis produced by the Israeli siege
09:01 against Gaza.
09:03 Official sources alert that the number of dead children due to the lack of food increased
09:07 to 31, so they ensure that minors are the most affected by the conflict.
09:13 In this sense, the World Health Organization warned that the malnutrition is greater in
09:17 the northern Gaza region, where the destruction of infrastructure and the shortage of water,
09:22 food and medicines put the lives of hundreds of civilians in danger.

10:26 to denounce the crimes committed by the Zionist occupation forces in Gaza.
10:31 The demonstrators rejected the continuous Israeli attacks against hospitals as well
10:35 as the bombardments against the Palestinian territories.
10:39 They also called on the Jordan government to stop its diplomatic and trade relations
10:43 with Tel Aviv and urged an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
10:48 Jordans have been massively demonstrating against the Israeli attacks since the beginning
10:52 of the conflict on October 7.
10:55 However, social organizations have denounced the government's repression against those
11:00 who opposed the Israeli occupation.
11:11 The people of Yemen also mobilized in support of Palestinians in Sanaa, the capital city,
11:16 and 14 other provinces across the nation.
11:18 The demonstrators assert that Palestine is a priority for the people of Yemen and therefore
11:23 reject those who remain silent in the face of the genocide carried out by Israel against
11:28 the citizens of Gaza.
11:31 The Yemenis also warned the United States and the United Kingdom that any adventure
11:34 against their territory will be strongly repelled by thousands of Muslim combatants.
11:45 In Cuba, Palestinian Land Day is commemorated with several solidarity demonstrations and
11:50 calls for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
11:53 A political and cultural event will be held this Sunday at the headquarters of the Cuban
12:00 Institute of Friendship with the Peoples on the occasion of the aforementioned commemoration.
12:06 This event takes place in support of the Palestinian cause in the middle of the tragic circumstances
12:12 they are currently going through, in light of the intensification of genocide, ethnic
12:16 cleansing, forced displacement and a war of hunger that the world never witnessed before.
12:22 Cuba advocates for peace in the occupied territories based on the creation of two states that will
12:27 allow the Palestinian people to be free from Tel Aviv's aggression.
12:36 This Saturday, Cyprus sent the second ship loaded with humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
12:41 Yenifer Freire sailed from the port of Larnaca with 500 tons of aid, including food and medicines.
12:49 According to local media, the shipment has already been inspected by the competent authorities
12:53 of the Republic, and the Israelis have also completed the necessary inspections.
12:59 The aid is expected to reach Palestine in about 65 hours, which is the estimated time
13:04 of the journey.
13:11 The Lebanese Hezbollah resistance called on the people of Lebanon to participate in the
13:15 demonstrations of the World Al-Aqsa Day on Friday, April 5.
13:20 The Secretary General of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, stressed
13:26 that this year's Al-Quds Day takes place in a different scenario from previous years.
13:31 Nasrallah pointed out that the people of Gaza are witnessing massacres and displacement
13:36 as a result of Israeli siege, and called on the people of Lebanon to stand in solidarity
13:41 with Palestinians and to reject Israel's despoliation of Palestinian lands.
13:47 The World Al-Quds Day is celebrated on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan,
13:53 in support of the Palestinian people in opposition to Zionism and the takeover of the holy city
13:58 of Jerusalem.

14:24 Welcome back to From the South.
14:43 The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky assured that they could be forced to withdraw
14:48 step by step from the battlefront.
14:51 This is what he stated on Friday during an interview with the American media Washington
14:55 Post.
14:56 The Ukrainian President assured that if there's no American support, it means that we will
15:01 go back.
15:02 We will withdraw step by step.
15:04 By ratifying that, this is a war more from Washington than Caid, reiterating that without
15:09 air defence, without Patriot missiles and electronic warfare and artillery inhibitors,
15:16 they will not be able to continue on the battlefront.
15:20 However, and despite the changes in equipment and strategies, Caid cannot convince the Republican
15:25 Congress, who keep for the moment the tap closed.
15:34 The Russian Aerospace Forces attacked the energy and gas extraction infrastructure of
15:39 Ukraine on Sunday.
15:41 The Eurasian country defence ministry reported that they neutralised three Sukhoi Su-25 aircrafts
15:48 at the Voskres airfield in the province of Nikolaev.
15:53 He added that before this offensive, the Caid regime suspended the activities in several
15:58 departments of the military industry dedicated to the manufacture and repair of armament.
16:04 Also the military entity detailed that during the last 24 hours, the Moscow anti-air defence
16:10 shut down at least 178 drones and intercepted 23 reactive rockets.
16:22 Dutch authorities announced Saturday the release of the last hostage held at a nightclub in
16:27 the city of Ede.
16:28 Ede's police confirmed that the prime suspect of the hostage-taking surrendered himself
16:34 to the authorities after releasing the last captive held in the facility.
16:39 Hours earlier, the police had ruled out a terrorist motive, but called local residents
16:44 to remain at home and evacuated 150 houses in the vicinity of the club.
16:50 The police are still investigating the motives related to the incident and have called residents
16:55 to be calmed after the suspect's arrest.
17:04 The world celebrates this Saturday the International Zero Waste Day with the aim of promoting sustainable
17:11 consumption and production practices.
17:13 The waste sector continues to contribute significantly to the triple global crisis of climate change,
17:19 biodiversity loss and pollution.
17:22 The International Zero Waste Day initiative was adopted in 2022 by the United Nations
17:28 General Assembly to promote sound environmental management and waste prevention and minimisation
17:34 to address the triple global crisis.
17:37 According to studies, it is collected every year.
17:49 On this International Zero Waste Day, the United Nations Organization calls on the governments
17:54 of the world to create circular economies to halt environmental pollution and invest
17:59 in modern programs based on reuse and remanufacturing of products.
18:04 The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said that humans generate
18:09 more than 2 billion tons of solid urban waste every year and warned that this figure could
18:14 double by 2050.
18:16 The diplomat also called on large companies to minimise packaging waste and extend the
18:22 expiration date of products.
18:31 Caracas takes to the stage with Venezuela's International Progressive Theatre Festival,
18:37 an event that unites culture with solidarity.
18:40 Let's see the details with our correspondent Gladys Quezada.
18:44 From March 22nd to March 31st, Caracas hosted the International Progressive Theatre Festival
18:51 of Venezuela.
18:52 Among the main venues was San Agustin, one of the most popular areas of the Venezuelan
18:58 capital.
18:59 Its theatre, La Arameda, lent its stage for a singular play for its spectators.
19:24 This is The Knights of Significance, a Barbadian play in two acts that recreates first the
19:30 kidnapping of Africans, the dispossession of their culture, and then the rebellion of
19:36 Busa, a historical passage of the anti-slavery deeds in the island.
19:41 With a minimal scenography and live music, 12 actors interpret these events.
19:47 In spite of the language barriers, for them it is crucial to bring their message to the
19:52 Venezuelan lands.
19:56 We don't take many opportunities to explore the linkages between our history and I think
20:02 this play was a great opportunity for us to do just that, to tell the public that, "Hey,
20:08 listen, we have been through the same thing."
20:10 We both have characters, individuals who would have fought for the emancipation, either from
20:18 colonial slave masters or from imperialist systems.
20:22 General Busa sought to do so for the enslaved in Barbados, like Simon Boulevard from Venezuela
20:29 as he sought to liberate Venezuela from Spanish control.
20:35 The play, although simple, contains codes of negritude and blackness shared by the Caribbean
20:41 and Latin America.
20:43 Those behind production know very well the value of every detail.
20:49 Stitching together the play with the music of Africa, fused with the music of Barbados,
20:55 which is what was created through the slave society in Barbados, was very important to
20:59 me.
21:00 We have very, very, very similar history, but in different diasporas.
21:09 For Barbados and Venezuela to come together and build a tighter friendship, because that's
21:17 what's needed within the Latin American country and the Caribbean.
21:21 We need to be one and not just separate.
21:23 So this is a step towards that.
21:25 In spite of the language barriers, this performance achieved its goal, to bring together two peoples
21:31 with common struggles, and this was its message.
21:35 Afterwards, it will go to Cuba to expand Caribbean brotherhood through the art.
