00:00 Ladies and gentlemen, your next Bachelorette is Jen.
00:05 Wow.
00:06 [APPLAUSE]
00:09 Congratulations.
00:17 Thank you.
00:18 Oh, my gosh.
00:19 You look gorgeous.
00:21 Oh, woo-hoo.
00:29 Thank you so much.
00:30 Thanks.
00:32 Oh.
00:33 Oh, my gosh.
00:34 Have a seat.
00:35 Oh, my gosh.
00:36 Well, Jen, congratulations.
00:38 You're in the driver's seat.
00:39 You're our next Bachelorette.
00:41 [APPLAUSE]
00:44 How does it feel?
00:45 That's going to take some getting used to, for sure.
00:48 I don't know.
00:49 I'm overwhelmed.
00:50 It's crazy.
00:51 It feels so surreal to be sitting here.
00:53 And honestly, I feel like just yesterday,
00:55 I was literally in the emergency room,
00:57 and my scrubs were working, and here I am in stilettos
01:00 in this little gown or whatever.
01:03 And honestly, it's so surreal to be, like,
01:06 passed on the baton from Charity, who's sitting here
01:08 today with, you know, her person that she found in all this.
01:11 And it's honestly just so inspiring.
01:13 And I watched your season, and I know I have some really big shoes.
01:17 Oh, thank you.
01:19 And you're not wasting any time, because your journey to find love
01:21 is starting very soon right here in Los Angeles.
01:24 So on that very first night, when you're meeting all those men,
01:29 what is it you think you're going to be looking for?
01:31 Well, Jesse, I'm really glad that you asked,
01:34 because I feel like I'm looking for someone who has a really big--
01:41 really, really big personality, you know?
01:44 Like, a really big personality.
01:46 And no, I'm serious.
01:47 I want someone who has that kind of banter, you know?
01:50 I'm all about having fun.
01:51 I'm all about having that cheeky banter.
01:53 And I want someone who's going to be able to take it as much as they can dish it.
01:57 And if we just spend the whole night, like, literally making fun of each other,
02:00 that will be the most ideal night ever.
02:02 I love that.
02:03 And then, listen, before you know it, you and I,
02:05 we're going to be back here on the sofa.
02:07 We're going to be recapping everything that happened.
02:09 If you could look into your crystal ball and you look forward to that moment,
02:12 what do you hope happens?
02:14 Well, obviously, I hope I have a ring on this finger.
02:17 I feel like that's definitely the end goal here.
02:19 But no, I mean, like, not only the ring on the finger,
02:21 but I hope that I find my person,
02:24 someone that I truly feel like is 100% my perfect match
02:28 and someone who I'm compatible with,
02:30 someone who he and I can have fun and also just, like,
02:33 feel like we're each other's person, you know?
02:36 And to what that really means right now, I don't know.
02:38 But I think I'll know when I find him.
02:41 Yeah, at Women Tell All, I remember you said you were looking for a ferocious love, right?
02:45 Yes.
02:46 Yeah, that's what you're looking for.
02:47 I don't know what that even means.
02:48 I don't either.
02:49 I was like, "Rawr!"
02:51 It's going to be great.
02:52 Yeah, yeah.
02:53 There's a lot of very lucky men out there right now
02:55 that you are going to be meeting very, very soon.
02:57 And they're watching this.
02:59 What would you like to say to them?
03:01 Oh, gosh, I don't even know.
03:03 I'd like to say that, you know, this experience is absolutely crazy.
03:08 And all I can hope is for them to really open up their heart to this
03:11 because that's what I did.
03:12 And I got so much out of it.
03:14 You know, it didn't end the way that I wanted to.
03:16 But I grew and I learned so much from it.
03:19 And all I can hope is that they really open up their heart to this.
03:22 And I really hope that they're ready to have some freaking fun.
03:24 Yeah.
03:25 Okay?
03:26 Give themselves the process.
03:27 Absolutely.
03:28 And by the way, you're also the first Asian-American bachelorette
03:30 in franchised history.
03:33 How does that feel?
03:35 [cheers and applause]
03:45 That is an absolute insane thing to come out of your mouth.
03:49 No, it's honestly incredible.
03:51 And I feel so, so grateful and so honored to be the first Asian bachelorette
03:56 in this franchise.
03:58 Growing up, I've always wanted to see Asian representation on TV, you know.
04:03 And I feel like it was really sparse.
04:06 Any time Asians were in the media, it was to fill a supporting character role,
04:10 to fulfill some sort of stereotype.
04:12 And I always felt boxed in by that because I was like,
04:14 I don't see myself on screen.
04:15 I don't see myself as a main character.
04:17 And now to be here today, sitting in this position,
04:20 being like I am going to lead my own love story,
04:22 I am going to be the main character of my story.
04:24 I just can't help but think of how many people I'm inspiring
04:28 and how many lives I'm changing.
04:29 I enjoy it.
04:30 [cheers and applause]
04:31 Thank you.
04:32 [applause]
