Moonstruck Astronaut kick off their Spring Drama in the Forest!
Transcript
00:00 So this is our first day, first morning of Spring Drama in the Forest. So this week we're
00:06 going to have, we've got me as a drama specialist, we're going to have a music specialist, a
00:10 craft specialist and a movement specialist all working, supporting children, encouraging
00:14 children to co-create animal stories in small groups that they will share with their families
00:21 and friends on Thursday to finish the week. So it's all, there's so much weaved in. So
00:27 it's children between the ages of 6-12, we have 18 and we just get to know each other
00:33 this morning really. We have a lot of children who return, pretty much over half have returned
00:37 so can finish on the Forest. So I think what they gain is a sense of belonging, a sense
00:42 of confidence growing in sort of different, I wouldn't say covert, but different ways
00:50 where it's like it can be through creating the craft it doesn't have to just be acting.
00:53 There's a lot of exposure to creativity that they won't have come across before. Obviously
00:57 exposure to high standard art and actually realising how beautiful and broad it is to
01:03 co-create together. There's so many soft skills they're learning through getting to know people
01:08 they don't know at all and by Thursday they are working as a team, they're patient, they're
01:13 kind and considerate. Yeah so we get rave feedback from parents and we're funded by
01:20 the Arts Council to run it this year which is a huge achievement because it takes a lot
01:23 of evidence to show the worth of the work.
