Gostrey Meadow getting its own Hollywood style Farnham sign

The men in sheds team have been busy building houses in the letters F-A-R-N-H-A-M for bugs. Gostrey Meadow will be the site for Farnham newest bug housing development with the Men in sheds team getting planning permission to build individual letters that are 1 metre in height and they will be fixed 600mm off the ground.
The grand opening is set to take place on Saturday March 23.
The project is being made for Green Up Britain in conjunction with Farnham Town Council.
Green Up Britain a Farnham based organisation are fighting against climate change & have given Farnham their first seed bank.
Kaz from Green Up Britain contacted the Men in Sheds team to help with the project as the team are known for offering their help to local groups, schools and the council to undertake crafting and repair jobs.
Headed by Ken McGowen the team is full of volunteers who share a range of experiences from former engineers & tradesmen to men looking to learn handy skills.
The team meet between 10AM – 1 PM every Tuesday & Thursday.
Projects to date have included building a platform to surround the pond at space2grow which was funded by Farnham Mayor Pat Evans and construction of an outdoor wooden storage community cupboard for Hale Community centre as part of their scheme to reduce food waste “Fridge and Cupboard”.
The letters for the Bug House has not been easy for the men in sheds as they have used a sustainable recycled plastic which is not easily malleable into the shapes needed for the Farnham letters. Despite this they have preserved & the letters are ready to be placed in their new home in Gostrey Meadow.
