00:00 Now, lava flows from the volcano in southwest Iceland that lit up the skies over the weekend
00:05 have slowed slightly.
00:07 Man-made barriers also seeming to be successful in steering the lava away from infrastructure,
00:14 including the nearby fishing town of Grindervik.
00:16 The eruption, the fourth since December, began on Saturday evening, sending fountains of
00:21 molten rock soaring from a roughly three-kilometer fissure there, roughly the same size, the
00:28 same place as the last eruption back in February.
00:30 The authorities had been warning for weeks that another eruption is imminent on the peninsula
00:35 just south of Iceland's capital, Reykjavik, as magma had been accumulating underground.
00:40 Well, let's hear from some of those affected.
00:43 Everything was really, really great.
00:46 We were relaxing and suddenly the alarm went really loud and, you know, like, it'd be
00:54 a bad thing, like, maybe it's kind of a joke or something, like, a few seconds, like, what's
00:59 going on?
01:00 It was a really great view.
01:03 So we were literally in the water and we were watching the lava gazers really high, like,
01:10 we really saw them.
01:11 I've never experienced anything like that before.
01:15 I'll be honest, I wasn't scared or anything.
01:16 I just hope everybody got out okay.
01:19 But it really was an experience.
01:22 And I'm like, at the same time, wow, how could this happen?
01:25 I couldn't wait to come here.
01:26 Yeah, local people, they're reacting to the latest lava flows there in Iceland.
