1961 Brunswick bowling alley TV commercial.
Bowling alleys were a big thing during the 1950s and 1960s, but not so much anymore. A few years ago, Brunswick sold off their bowling alley division to the 2nd biggest operator. As far as Brunswick was concerned, it was not a growth industry.
Maybe if they actually promoted bowling recreation, that scenario might change. When was the last time that you saw a TV ad promoting a bowling alley? It would seem to me that the industry could grow by leaps and bounds, if they only used the magic of advertising.
