00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:04 Ain't no party like an S Club party, right?
00:06 I am fanboying out behind the scenes of the Good Times Tour.
00:09 It's EG exclusive.
00:12 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:14 I know this is the first time you guys have reunited in,
00:16 what, eight years?
00:17 Right?
00:17 But you're celebrating 25 years of S Club.
00:19 Yeah.
00:20 It's a lot of history.
00:21 Yeah.
00:21 The fact that we announced the 25th anniversary and then
00:25 sold out the UK Arena Tour without doing any promotion or
00:28 anything, really.
00:28 We literally just announced it.
00:29 We were just-- our minds blown.
00:31 Like, it's insane.
00:32 We're so lucky.
00:33 Why do you feel really, though?
00:35 It's really special.
00:35 Because it doesn't happen for every group, right?
00:37 No.
00:37 No.
00:38 No.
00:38 It doesn't.
00:39 So yeah, we are very grateful.
00:40 Yeah.
00:41 So grateful.
00:41 So grateful.
00:42 [LAUGHTER]
00:42 It is very, very nostalgic.
00:44 I think that the main thing is just the positivity
00:46 of the songs and the music.
00:47 And I think people just seem to love that whole positive thing
00:51 that we put out.
00:51 Because there's so much negativity in the world.
00:54 So I think it's just a nice way for people
00:55 just to escape back to a more innocent time, maybe.
00:59 A more pure time.
00:59 Was it like the WhatsApp chat just came to life?
01:02 Like, did you pick up where you left off?
01:03 We always have a very weird relationship.
01:05 We might not see or speak to each other for five years.
01:07 And then we'll walk back into a room,
01:09 and it's like we saw each other yesterday.
01:10 Yeah.
01:10 And it's always been like that for us.
01:12 Yeah.
01:12 It has.
01:13 Everyone just kind of slots back into their role.
01:16 And I guess everyone has matured and sort of--
01:20 because we've all got kids now and stuff.
01:22 So everyone's a lot more--
01:25 Tired.
01:25 [LAUGHTER]
01:27 So it's-- and the atmosphere is better.
01:30 I think we all kind of-- we've all grown up.
01:32 And we appreciate each other more.
01:33 We have perspective now.
01:34 Everything's in perspective.
01:36 Yeah, a lot has changed since S Club
01:38 rocketed to stardom in 1999 with their infectious music
01:41 and Fox Family TV series, S Club 7 in Miami.
01:45 For starters, four out of the five current members
01:47 are parents now.
01:49 What has this experience been like for them to see mom
01:51 and dad being pop stars on stage again, you know?
01:54 Awesome.
01:55 I mean, for like five minutes, we were cool.
01:57 [LAUGHTER]
01:57 Five minutes.
01:58 Just five minutes.
01:58 Maybe 10.
01:59 Then back to being mom.
02:00 Then back to being mom.
02:01 Yeah.
02:01 It wears thin quite quickly.
02:04 Right.
02:04 [LAUGHTER]
02:07 My son is loving it.
02:08 He just wants to be in the band, I think.
02:11 He so loves it.
02:13 He does.
02:14 He's seven, so--
02:15 My son's a little show off.
02:17 Not a show off, but he keeps promising his teachers
02:19 that he's going to get them back pretty much.
02:21 [LAUGHTER]
02:22 Their long-awaited comeback is bittersweet.
02:25 Six months before they were set to kick off their reunion tour,
02:28 beloved bandmate Paul Cattermole died of heart-related issues.
02:32 How do you hope fans will remember him or maybe even
02:34 continue his legacy?
02:36 I think Paul would want to be remembered as just
02:38 for being crazy and goofy and fun, you know?
02:41 Because he was just such a bundle of energy.
02:43 And I think we've all realized, and you notice it more
02:45 than ever, that energy is missing.
02:48 After Paul's passing, fellow band member Hannah Spirit,
02:51 who previously dated Paul, decided, quote,
02:54 "it wasn't the right time for her to return to the group."
02:56 But the remaining five came together
02:58 to release their first new single in 20 years,
03:01 "These Are The Days," honoring Paul.
03:03 [MUSIC - HANNAH SPIRIT, "THESE ARE THE DAYS"]
03:05 Here's to the craziest times that we've been through
03:08 together.
03:09 Why was it important for you guys
03:10 to still continue with this tour without Paul?
03:12 I think, especially for Paul, Paul was so, so excited
03:16 to do the tour.
03:17 And I think he would be really, really angry with us
03:20 if we'd have stopped it.
03:21 I really do think that.
03:22 He would have loved this so much.
03:24 Also, I love that you guys do include in the show,
03:26 like, a tribute to him for the fans, too,
03:28 who loved and adored him.
03:29 I don't-- it was never a question to not do it.
03:31 I think it just turned into something different.
03:34 I mean, we renamed the tour the Good Times Tour in tribute
03:36 of him, because that was one of his songs
03:38 that he was going to do acoustically in the show.
03:40 And it just became a real beautiful tribute
03:43 and celebration for him and for the fans, too.
03:45 So we've kept in touch with his family.
03:48 And they came to one of the shows.
03:50 And they were-- they just really thought it was,
03:53 you know, beautifully done.
03:55 And yeah, it's been really emotional.
03:56 [MUSIC - THE BATS, "GREET"]
03:57 (SINGING) Greetings to all you won't greet.
03:59 Round of applause for Mr. Paul.
04:00 [CHEERING]
04:01 All the fans have been so lovely.
04:03 Like, when they come to meet Greets,
04:04 they'll bring, like, little things,
04:06 or they'll be wearing something.
04:07 Some t-shirt.
04:08 Front pool.
04:08 Yeah.
04:09 Yeah.
04:09 I even got a tattoo the other day on Venice Beach.
04:11 Is that right?
04:12 Good times.
04:12 Come on.
04:13 [INAUDIBLE]
04:14 You guys have also partnered with the British Heart
04:16 Foundation to raise awareness and funding for research
04:18 about heart conditions.
04:19 Yeah.
04:20 I think coming out of something so tragic,
04:23 you've got to try and do something good.
04:25 And wherever we can just make people aware that, you know,
04:29 these heart conditions can happen at any age, any time,
04:32 is so, so important.
04:33 So people must check their heart health.
04:35 Yeah.
04:36 Yeah.
04:36 So we're all CPR trained now.
04:38 We're all trained.
04:38 Oh, they're all?
04:39 Yeah.
04:39 We're officially-- we're ambassadors
04:41 for the British Heart Foundation.
04:41 It's easier than you think.
04:43 It's so quick to learn.
04:44 So it's such an important--
04:45 Are you using your own music for the--
04:46 Yeah, yeah.
04:47 And the music does really--
04:48 It's a perfect song for the rhythm.
04:51 [MUSIC - S-CLUB, "BRING IT ALL BACK"]
04:53 We were exclusive with S-Club for sound check.
04:55 And as they met with fans before wrapping up
04:57 their international The Good Times
04:59 tour at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles.
05:02 What song were you guys most excited to sing again?
05:04 [MUSIC - S-CLUB, "BRING IT ALL BACK"]
05:05 Oh.
05:06 Oh.
05:06 "Bring It All Back" goes down really well.
05:08 Oh, it does.
05:09 Yeah.
05:10 [MUSIC - S-CLUB, "BRING IT ALL BACK"]
05:12 I think "Don't Stop Moving" is a heavy one, too.
05:15 [MUSIC - S-CLUB, "DON'T STOP MOVING"]
05:17 "Never Had a Dream Come True" is always a good one.
05:19 [MUSIC - S-CLUB, "DON'T STOP MOVING"]
05:21 (SINGING) A part of me will always be with you.
05:26 Take me back to the rehearsal, though.
05:28 When you were rehearsing, were they the same?
05:30 Did they feel the same as they did when you were in the 2000s
05:34 doing your thing?
05:35 It took a little while to get back into the group, I think.
05:38 Interesting.
05:39 But we are actually doing the same choreography.
05:41 Yeah, we are.
05:41 Most of the songs are the same choreography.
05:43 So yeah.
05:44 They haven't dumbed it down at all.
05:46 It's probably still as hard as it was.
05:49 Maybe not so much floor work.
05:51 Yeah.
05:52 That's because we sort of--
05:54 We can't get back up.
05:55 Yeah.
05:55 [LAUGHTER]
05:56 We can't get down.
05:56 It takes a while.
05:57 I mean, you know what?
05:58 Now I feel like it's a good time for a little trip down the ET
06:01 vault, because we've been with you guys
06:02 from the very beginning.
06:04 And we actually have a little clip to show you about our time
06:06 together.
06:07 Oh my god.
06:07 Talk about nostalgia.
06:09 Is this going to be a cringer?
06:10 Yes.
06:11 No, you can't.
06:11 Yes, of course it will be.
06:12 Of course it's going to be a cringer.
06:13 Hi, we're Escom Seven, and you're watching Entertainment
06:18 Tonight.
06:19 [CHEERING]
06:21 Oh, so young.
06:22 Oh my god.
06:23 Wow.
06:23 Oh, you were so loud.
06:24 Yeah.
06:25 I always did whenever we were pillow fighting.
06:26 I actually remember this.
06:27 Do you remember this?
06:28 I do.
06:29 I do.
06:29 I do.
06:31 Straight in the face.
06:32 I remember the pillow fight, because it hurt.
06:34 Remember getting punched in the face with a pillow?
06:36 Yeah.
06:37 You know, everyone was working at being a performer.
06:40 You were a ballerina.
06:41 Oh.
06:41 What would you tell those kids what you know now?
06:44 Just enjoy it.
06:46 Enjoy it.
06:46 Enjoy it.
06:47 Exactly.
06:47 Enjoy it.
06:48 Yeah.
06:48 Yeah.
06:49 Don't worry so much.
06:50 Yeah.
06:51 Yeah.
06:51 Yeah.
06:52 It's so easy to get kind of, when you're tired,
06:55 to sort of moan about things.
06:56 And it doesn't last forever.
06:58 Enjoy it.
06:58 It's all good fun.
06:59 Absolutely.
07:00 I think, for me, this time, I'm just embracing it.
07:02 Yeah.
07:03 Because I'm thinking, I never would have imagined
07:05 being back with these guys at this point of my life.
07:08 I have to ask for the fans.
07:10 Has this reunion tour inspired any new music?
07:13 Or maybe have another album in you?
07:15 I think we're just waiting for the right song to come out.
07:17 Yeah.
07:18 We are.
07:18 But that is a possibility.
07:21 I love it.
07:21 A huge one.
07:22 Yeah.
07:22 You're not ruling it out, are you?
07:24 No.
07:24 No.
07:25 We went out for dinner with our manager.
07:26 And I was talking to him about getting in the studio,
07:28 getting us all in, and doing some work together.
07:30 How about another reboot of the TV show?
07:33 I'd love to do that.
07:34 Really?
07:34 Yeah.
07:35 That's the thing I most want to do.
07:37 Because I think the TV show was so, so much fun.
07:40 I think it would be funny to see what happened.
07:42 Yeah.
07:43 Sounds like you guys got some planning
07:44 to do once you wrap this whole tour.
07:46 There's some things in motion.
07:47 I love it.
07:48 There's some conversations we made.
07:49 I love it.
07:50 It's like back in the day, they'd say,
07:52 teeny popper, you know, manufactured band.
07:54 Cheesy.
07:55 Cheesy teeny popper.
07:55 Now they call us pop icons.
07:56 Yeah.
07:57 Pop legends, you know, which is great.
07:59 We're going outstriped.
08:01 [MUSIC PLAYING]
