00:00 to Gaza where no ceasefire deal right now means that a trickle of aid only is getting into the
00:08 enclave and there are these reports now that children in the north of the enclave are dying
00:14 of starvation. What can you tell us about those reports?
00:16 Absolutely, well the World Health Organization has for a long time now been trying to call
00:25 attention to the plight of people in Gaza and we've heard these warnings for months but there
00:29 is clear evidence now to show that this is happening right now and that people in Gaza
00:34 are starving to death. The Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza says that the situation is at its
00:39 worst in northern Gaza because of course that's where it's most difficult to get deliveries of
00:45 aid to. You know we're talking about children dying because their mothers are so malnourished
00:52 they can't even properly breastfeed their own children and of course the problem here is just
00:58 that not enough aid is getting to Gaza. In February about 97 trucks on average per day were allowed
01:06 into the Gaza Strip. That was down from 150 per day in January and way short of the 500 per day
01:13 that's needed to meet the needs of Gaza's population. Now the UN and aid groups have
01:20 blamed Israel for this shortfall. They say it's down to Israel's military operations,
01:25 down to the closure of land crossings and also down to the checks that aid lorries are subjected
01:30 to. Israel for its part says it is letting more humanitarian aid in but the simple reality is
01:37 that not enough aid is getting to the people that need it inside Gaza. Andrew Hillyer live for us
01:43 in Jerusalem. Thanks very much.
