00:00 As new migrants, people have these problems. People discriminating you.

00:06 I was in that place where people not really accepting me being an Asian.

00:12 And I felt that really bad.

00:15 Right now, comparing those days and now, there's a big difference.

00:19 There's a lot more skilled workers.

00:22 In those days, a lot of us coming in as wives of Australian people.

00:30 Because in those days, we don't have people hiring for skilled workers like nurses,

00:35 like these people, welders and all that. We don't have that in those days.

00:39 Only few, very few.

00:41 Now, we got all that.

00:43 I mean, a lot of Filipinos being hired as a skilled worker and even semi-skilled worker.

00:49 And then, these last few years, there's an influx of Filipinos coming in here.

00:55 And that's why we got some problems also with the new migrants.

00:59 When you're a new migrant, when you apply for rental property, you need to have reference.

01:06 You need to have proper jobs. You need all that.

01:10 But then, if you're a student, you're just new in here, they will look at your history and all.

01:15 You don't have that. You don't have reference.

01:18 Where are you going to get that? Nothing.
