With the 1972 LP "Universe" the American bop and hard-bop pianist Hampton Hawes made some significant changes in the music he proposed opening up to the jazz-funk fusion genre but still remaining on a mellow level. On "Universe" you can also hear Hawes busy on the organ and synthesizer.
