00:00 Zach, he had such a terrible health scare with the shunt that he had.

00:04 It had malfunctioned, he had to go in for an emergency surgery.

00:08 The last 10 years, Zach has had really bad migraines.

00:11 He would get a headache and then he would be treated for the headache and then, you know, the pain would subside.

00:17 Zach has dealt with these headaches for way too long.

00:20 But this time it escalated very quickly.

00:22 We're going to see that unfold this season.

00:25 How is his health today? What's the status of the new shunt that they've put in?

00:30 How are things looking?

00:31 Well, that was definitely a very scary moment.

00:33 Even, you know, as a mom and I had to really, you know, put myself in check and not just go in there.

00:42 Because, you know, he's married now.

00:43 Tori, you know, is there for him as well.

00:46 And so I think the biggest thing was just letting them know that I'm here for them if they ever need me.

00:53 So I was called at 3 o'clock in the morning.

00:56 Hey, we're going to the hospital. Can you come right now?

00:58 And I'm like, OK, Chris, I got to go.

01:01 Come back home. And then they came back home and call me again.

01:05 Hey, we're going in. They want to do surgery on him.

01:08 Like, OK, 4 o'clock in the morning.

01:10 So I stayed with the kids for a little bit because it was very important for me to have her there with them.

01:15 Right.

01:16 I think this is her first experience of going through something like that with Zach.

01:23 I can't imagine how scary it must have been for her, for both of them.

01:27 I just was preparing myself for the worst because I just had no idea what was going on.

01:33 I mean, how grim was it?

01:35 Were you afraid that you might lose your son?

01:38 You know, there's always that hope.

01:41 I'm a faith-based person, and even if it did get scary or worse, I thought that everything's going to be OK.

01:51 It may take a while, but everything's going to be OK.

01:54 And it was. You know, he found a really good neurosurgeon and stuff.

01:58 And, you know, I just really wanted to make it comfortable and easy for the kids.

02:03 Right.

02:03 Not to, you know, think dad is going to be coming home, whatever.

02:06 But Zach is doing great now. You would never have known.

02:10 It's been a year. We're actually celebrating Tori about this.

02:13 The family's doing great. He and Tori.

02:16 But as a mom, I said, Zach, you got to pay attention.

02:19 I know.

02:20 You got to pay attention to your body.

02:21 Exactly. I mean, because he did whenever it got too late.

02:24 But are you encouraging now more routine checkups on that?

02:26 Because from my understanding, it could malfunction in two years.

02:30 It could malfunction in 15 years.

02:32 So.

02:32 And it's just recognizing those signs.

02:35 But as we all know, sometimes recognizing those signs, you have to get that medical field to do what you want them to do.

02:44 Right.

02:44 And a lot of times it's making a situation a lot worse than maybe it really is for something to be done.

02:50 So. But no, he's doing good.

02:52 And and then Tori has been through it.

02:55 So I'm just glad everything is well.

02:58 Great. Kids are doing great.

03:00 Zach's playing soccer.

03:01 He's coaching. You know, he's doing all sorts of stuff.

03:04 So awesome. I love it.
