00:00 "The work has been ongoing for the past two decades to assess the size of the North and
00:05 to fully deploy its capabilities, especially in the sectors that were not covered by the
00:10 previous digging and assessment works in a comprehensive manner and by using the latest
00:15 technologies in digging and development.
00:17 For example, in the past ten years, more than 20 assessment wells have been dug.
00:24 And in the last period, Qatar has been following its efforts and focused its attention on the
00:30 extent of the extension of the North to the West to assess the production capabilities
00:35 of those areas.
00:36 Geological and engineering studies have also been followed, and a number of assessment
00:41 wells have been dug in that area.
00:43 It is a pleasure for us today to announce that these great efforts, and by the grace of
00:48 God, have been confirmed through the assessment well technical tests, the extension of the
00:52 North to the West, and the ability to produce huge amounts of gas from this new sector.
01:00 It is also a pleasure for me to announce that recent studies have shown that the North
01:06 has a huge amount of additional gas, estimated at about 240 trillion cubic feet, which raises
01:13 the gas reserves in Qatar from 1,760 to 2,000 trillion cubic feet, and the amount of
01:20 gas produced in Qatar is estimated at about 70 to 80 billion barrels, as well as large
01:26 amounts of diesel, ethane, and helium.
01:29 These results are of great importance and have positive implications for the production
01:35 of Qatari gas in the new areas, where we will be able, by the grace of God, to develop a
01:41 new project to produce diesel natural gas in the West to the North, with a production
01:47 capacity of about 16 million tons per year.
01:51 With this, the production of Qatari diesel natural gas will reach about 142 million tons
01:59 per year by the end of this new expansion, before the current contract ends, which means
02:05 an increase of about 85% compared to the current production levels.
02:10 With the completion of this project, the production of Qatari diesel gas from hydrocarbon
02:16 to carbon will reach a daily rate of 7.25 million barrels of oil.
02:21 Qatar will immediately begin implementing the basic engineering work necessary to ensure
02:27 the achievement of the programme's planned progress, which will be called the North-West
02:34 Project.
02:35 The expansion of the production projects that we are implementing aims to achieve the
02:41 most important goals of the North-West Project, which is to ensure the independence of our
02:47 natural resources and to manage those resources in a way that will contribute to our leadership
02:53 in ensuring the dignified life and prosperity of the current and future generations in the
02:59 city of Qatar, according to the values set by the 2030 National Vision of Qatar.
03:04 At the same time, these projects confirm Qatar's commitment to energy, by strengthening
03:09 its economic, secure and reliable energy, and by giving priority to environmental sustainability
03:14 for a more prosperous and bright future.
