00:00 >> What's up?
00:01 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:05 >> All right, Logan, talk us through some of the at bats you had today.
00:08 You looked like you were on the ball, but I think your biggest at bat of the day
00:12 was the push button you had in the, I think it was the sixth inning, fifth inning,
00:16 to get a run across.
00:17 Talk us through that at bat and talk us through how you executed there.
00:19 >> Yeah, after Chad got on, I was first and third, Bruce looked at me,
00:23 he's like, you wanna push?
00:24 I was like, yeah, I do.
00:25 So I've got a lot off speed today, so I was like, all right,
00:28 he's gonna throw a first base breaking ball, make sure to stay behind it.
00:30 And that's what I did, put it in a good place.
00:33 >> What's it like to know that you've got the confidence of Coach Bruce to,
00:36 where there's a moment like that, he knows he can call?
00:38 >> Yeah, it means the world.
00:40 He knows how much work we put in, area six, we call it, bouncing.
00:44 But having the faith that he knows I'm gonna get it down,
00:48 I know I'm gonna get it down no matter what, it means a lot.
00:50 >> Yeah.
00:52 >> Just how hard is that some field out there in left field?
00:55 You saw UCLA kind of had trouble with it.
00:58 How hard is that?
00:59 >> I'm used to it, I played left field the last three years.
01:03 But it is tough, I think the fifth, sixth inning was the worst.
01:06 We had a little bit of a pitching change, so me and Brunson were out there talking.
01:11 He's not quite used to it yet, but he was struggling a little bit too.
01:15 >> Was there anything that changed in your approach at the play,
01:19 maybe throughout the week, that kind of led to this?
01:21 Or was it just a good night hitting the ball?
01:23 >> I mean, the biggest thing is being on time, being on time to breaking ball,
01:26 being on time to fastball.
01:27 That's what I've really focused on last week.
01:30 I feel like last week I was a little bit rushed.
01:33 So making sure I get my load early, being on time.
01:36 >> What's it like having a player like Anthony Silva behind you?
01:40 Does that kind of give you, feel like you see some better pitches?
01:43 >> I mean, yeah, he's a really good player.
01:45 Obviously, they wanna get me out so they don't have to deal with him with runners
01:49 on base.
01:49 But my goal is just to get on base for guys like him and
01:52 Curtis and then totally to tip me in.
01:55 >> It's not often that we see a true freshman come in and
02:00 immediately start in center field and
02:02 talk about Chase Brunson and the impact that he's had on the scene.
02:05 >> He's been unbelievable throughout the fall.
02:07 He was great.
02:08 And then being able to step up last weekend and do what he did,
02:12 be able to just turn the lap over.
02:15 He's been incredible.
02:17 >> What's the key to getting a win tomorrow?
02:22 >> Treat it like we're down 0-2.
02:23 We're trying to win a series tomorrow.
02:26 That's what we're trying to sweep tomorrow, but
02:27 treat it like we're trying to win a series.
02:28 >> Defense has been a lot cleaner these last couple games against UCLA.
02:34 Was that a big emphasis coming into this series?
02:36 >> Yeah, we focused a lot on Wednesday and Thursday.
02:39 But I think it's mostly our pitchers just pounding the strike zone this week.
02:41 So I feel like it's easier to play defense and not lull out.
02:45 But yeah, defense has been an emphasis Wednesday and Thursday practice.
02:50 >> How much confidence does it give you guys that you've got guys in the pen,
02:53 like Chase Hoover, Brayden Sloan,
02:55 that can go extended innings whenever you need them to in tight games like this?
03:00 >> Yeah, I mean, anyone we can call on down there can give us innings.
03:03 But yeah, Sloan's done great and
03:05 Hoover's done great the last couple times they've been out.
03:06 We have confidence in everyone down there, so they've been great.
03:11 >> What do you think of the new batter size six games in?
03:14 >> I love it.
03:15 It's so much easier to see, especially at night.
03:17 I feel like it makes the biggest difference at night.
03:20 >> Thanks, Logan.
03:23 >> Thank you.
03:23 >> Appreciate you.
