00:00 After the tragic events of the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City,
00:03 it didn't feel right without you guys hearing from us first.
00:07 Travis and Jason Kelsey are addressing the Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting.
00:12 The brothers share this message with listeners of their New Heights podcast on February 19th.
00:19 92%ers, we have a pre-recorded episode for you guys coming up on Wednesday. But after the tragic
00:28 events of the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, it didn't feel right without you guys hearing
00:34 from us first. We just wanted to say, you know, our hearts go out to all of the victims, their
00:39 families, Chiefs Kingdom, and really all of Kansas City that was really there on a day to try and
00:46 celebrate the community. And it's unfortunate and deeply tragic, the events that occurred.
00:55 So, you know, we also want to thank the local law enforcement that sprang into action,
00:59 the first responders on scene, and anybody that's been willing to help those affected by this
01:09 tragedy. Travis goes on to remind listeners of the KC Strong Emergency Fund before Jason speaks
01:17 about the Kansas City community coming together. We'll share a link to donate to the Chiefs
01:22 Emergency Response Fund in our bio. Your donation goes to supporting victims and their families,
01:27 violence prevention, and mental health services, and the first responders.
01:34 One of the things that's evident is how much Kansas City is coming together and rallying
01:39 around the people that have been affected by this. And, you know, one of the beautiful things that we
01:43 have in doing this podcast is a wonderful community out there. The 92%ers, everybody
01:48 that watches this show, we're still figuring out a way for us to be involved. And obviously,
01:53 you can donate to these links right now, but we plan on doing something in the future. We're
01:57 trying to get that situated right now, have some ideas, but just make sure you're following, and
02:04 we'll be telling you guys in ways that we're going to try and get involved. Before ending
02:08 their message, Travis says this to the fans and residents of Kansas City. 92%ers, we appreciate
02:16 you. Kansas City and Chiefs Kingdom, we love you guys. We're with you guys, and we'll see you guys
02:22 soon. On February 14th, fans arrived in the masses at the parade to celebrate the Chiefs winning
02:29 their second consecutive Super Bowl when gunshots erupted. 43-year-old Lisa Lopez-Galvan died,
02:38 while at least 22 other people were injured. Two unidentified juveniles have since been
02:45 charged in connection with the shooting. And this isn't the first time that Travis has spoken out.
02:52 He previously expressed his heartache in a message on X, formerly known as Twitter,
02:57 on February 14th, writing, "I am heartbroken over the tragedy that took place today.
03:05 My heart is with all who came out to celebrate with us and have been affected. Casey,
03:12 you mean the world to me." His organization, 8/7 and Running, also donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe
03:21 account to support the Reyes family, whose two daughters were injured from the shooting.
03:27 In addition, Taylor Swift, who is dating Travis, donated $100,000 to the Lopez-Galvan family.
03:35 The family has since been charged in connection with the shooting.
