00:00 The Indian warship INS Chennai arrived in the state of distress in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
00:06 On 5 January, 15 Indian crew members and an Indian ship were abandoned by the Somali
00:12 and Pakistani forces.
00:14 Within 24 hours, the abandoned ship was lifted from the hands of the abandoned crew members
00:20 and the Indian ship was brought to the Indian Navy.
00:23 The abandoned ship was MV Leela Narbhav.
00:26 From 19th to 7th February, the Indian flagship ship, the Nau Samelan, will go to Milan
00:33 for the 2024 Kurura International Expo.
00:36 The Samelan will represent the two ships, Rajjo and Puducherry, along with INS Chennai.
00:42 The Minar is a Diwali-themed ship, the Nau Mahara, which in 1995 started its journey
00:48 from four countries, Indonesia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
00:54 It gives me great pleasure to welcome Captain Raghu Nair, the commanding officer of INS Chennai.
01:00 As you are all aware, INS Chennai is here on a very short trip, but most importantly,
01:08 like the vibrant city Chennai, INS Chennai has also been making waves across the world
01:14 wherever she has been sailing.
01:16 She has been out to France, as also so many other ports.
01:20 And while she is now heading towards Vishakhapatnam, it gives us great pleasure to welcome INS Chennai
01:28 to Chennai, which is only for the second time ever since she got commissioned.
01:33 INS Chennai's Captain Raghu R. Nair says,
01:36 My crew and I, to be here in the city, in our namesake city, we are named after this great city.
01:41 And we've been out at sea for a long time now.
01:45 And as we make our way towards Vizag for Milan 24, it is indeed a pleasure and a privilege
01:51 to be here in this city.
01:53 Over the last few months, Chennai has been deployed all across the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
02:00 We've been in the north, the east, the west, the south.
02:03 We were fortunate to have been involved in some operations against pirates as well.
02:08 And all of this is important as the Indian Navy reaffirms its position as the preferred security partner in this region.
02:17 And also another great thing about Chennai is that being an indigenously designed ship,
02:22 she is the hallmark and she is the flag bearer of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
02:26 As you can see, this amazing ship behind me, she's been involved in numerous operations.
02:32 And each one of them, she's come out with flying colors.
02:34 And once again, it's indeed a privilege to be here in Chennai.
02:38 Before departing for Vizag, the INS Chennai will be able to see the ship until 17 February.
02:54 For now.
