00:06 I always misunderstand a word

00:08 or miss an entire chunk of information altogether.

00:12 I'll give you a couple of examples.

00:15 I was working in Toronto,

00:18 and I checked in for my flight,

00:21 and the woman behind the counter said,

00:23 "Okay, you're all set.

00:25 You can go hang out now in the make-believe lounge."

00:30 [laughter]

00:37 I said, "Oh, yeah?

00:41 Where's that?"

00:44 And she said, "It's on the fourth floor."

00:47 I said, "Oh, is it now?"

00:50 And she was just like, "Mm-hmm, yeah."

00:52 And I said, "All right, well, uh,

00:55 I guess I'm gonna head up there now."

00:58 And the whole time, she's just nodding her head.

01:01 "Yep, okay. Okay.

01:04 Here I go."

01:12 Okay, here's the thing.

01:15 I deal with these types of people

01:18 in these jobs on a near daily basis,

01:22 and it's typically a very straightforward

01:24 exchange of information.

01:27 And with her, I thought,

01:29 "I've clearly stumbled upon a little weirdo.

01:33 But I'll play."

01:35 But she never said, "I'm just kidding."

01:39 So I thought, "Okay, I have to go see

01:41 what's going on on the fourth floor."

01:44 I press the elevator button, go up,

01:47 the doors open, and there is a huge sign

01:51 that says, "Welcome to the Maple Leaf Lounge."
