Five policemen charged with extorting money from a motorist in Permatang Tinggi, Penang have claimed trial at the Bukit Mertajam magistrate's court on Friday (Feb 9).

The five of them aged between 24 and 48 were charged with extorting RM4,500 from a 27-year-old man by claiming to have found drugs in the car during an inspection in Jalan Permatang Tinggi at 10.15pm on Feb 1.
