Wet weather to spell both good and bad news for ski resorts across the US

From rain at Montage in Pennsylvania to more snow at Beaver Creek in Colorado, the end of this week will have varied effects for skiers across the country.

00:00 Well, if you are looking to ski across the southwest,

00:03 this new snow is very beneficial.

00:05 So just as they were talking about snowpack building,

00:08 and let me just show you some of the numbers coming in

00:11 with our ski reports.

00:12 In places like Mammoth, we now have a base of 115 at least,

00:16 and yeah, talking about 67 trails open.

00:20 So that's kind of the range that we have there.

00:22 A lot of places throughout the west

00:23 are now dealing with bases that are more than three feet.

00:26 So that's some good news.

00:27 Snow's still coming down many,

00:28 but Palisades Tahoe clearing out,

00:30 I think as we go throughout tomorrow.

00:31 So some better news there.

00:33 Let's take you to Beaver Creek, an interesting site,

00:36 because yes, we are talking about

00:38 still some more snow to come,

00:40 even at the base, possibly an inch.

00:42 Most of that coming in the morning on Friday

00:44 as the storm system throughout the southwest

00:46 finally pushes out into the plains.

00:48 So that's gonna be the changes that we have occurring

00:50 there in Beaver Creek.

00:51 We'll take you though to Mammoth here.

00:55 How about that?

00:56 They are quieting down.

00:57 So after all the snowfall,

00:59 we are gonna stay in the 30s.

01:00 We are going to see more sunshine return for Saturday,

01:03 a gorgeous day to get out and enjoy all the new snow there

01:06 as we head through the weekend.

01:07 And we'll go into the east,

01:09 and we've got, no surprise, mild weather here.

01:12 But the problem is it comes in the weekend

01:15 in the form of rain.

01:16 We're gonna be talking about the wet weather Saturday

01:18 in a place like Montage,

01:20 which is in southeastern Pennsylvania,

01:22 or eastern Pennsylvania, I should say.

01:23 And for Sugarloaf, Maine,

01:25 always a fun spot to head to.

01:27 We will have more wet weather heading into the weekend.

01:30 So try to get out early if you're on the east coast.

01:33 And you might have to wait until next week otherwise.
