00:00 The Consumer Protection Group of the Department of Trade and Industry is aware of the sale and purchase of mystery parcels on online platforms.
00:09 According to DTI Assistant Secretary Amanda Nugrales, most of these were not paid for by the government,
00:17 or were stolen from storage facilities.
00:21 Aside from their coordination with major online shopping platforms, they also continue monitoring mystery items or boxes.
00:31 DTI also clarified that anyone who sells or buys illegal mystery parcels may be charged under anti-fencing law.
00:42 The same goes for freight forwarders who prove that they sell stolen or illegal parcels, they will be charged P50,000 to P100,000 pesos.
00:53 This is due to suspending or cancellation of their accreditation.
00:58 That is why DTI is calling on the public to be vigilant so that they will not be victimized by illegal mystery parcels that have been sold on various online shopping platforms.
