00:00 Hello, Joe Cran and Alex Miller here speaking from the press room at Coventry City where
00:06 we've just watched the fourth instalment of a series of matches between Sheffield Wednesday
00:15 and Coventry City. Sheffield Wednesday came out decidedly second best.
00:21 Yeah, second half capitulation again, we've seen it a fair few times recently. I think
00:27 they put so much into just staying level in the first half and then it just collapsed
00:33 in the second. I think it was eight minutes, 12 minutes conceded four, eight minutes conceded
00:39 three. It's not a good look and look, speaking to Danny afterwards, it was very clear that
00:45 he'd made a tough decision for this one to just give his first team a break effectively.
00:50 Yeah, it was a very patched up side, wasn't it?
00:53 And it showed.
00:54 Yeah, it did show and you feel for them to a large extent really, given what they're
01:01 asked to do. There's players out there that haven't got a lot of match fitness and then
01:06 young lads and they've got to shepherd them through that as well. I think we both commented
01:09 didn't we when they came off at half time and they looked like they'd played 180 minutes
01:13 like 11.45. But the nature of that flurry of goals, we've seen it three times now in
01:19 the last month or so, five weeks. It's concerning, isn't it?
01:24 It is. I think one thing that is probably necessary to say with this one, the Huddersfield
01:29 one, they were all bad goals. These ones were, look, they weren't great from Wins perspective,
01:35 but they were really good goals from Coventry. It was just another example of the complete
01:43 difference in quality between the two teams, especially in the attacking third. Wednesday,
01:50 they had a few half chances throughout the game, but they don't have the sort of quality
01:54 that Calum O'Hare's got. The delivery from Jadon Silva for the fourth goal was unbelievably
02:00 good and Wednesday, they're just not at it when you compare it to teams with this kind
02:05 of ability.
02:06 Yeah, certainly. Obviously, the big game is on Friday. We'll touch on that just a little
02:10 bit. Positives very quickly, Bailey Kadamaci ended his, I think it was nine games without
02:15 a goal.
02:16 Yeah, something like that. Just under two months.
02:19 For a young man, I don't think there's been a lot of heat on him. I think people are understanding
02:23 of the journey that he's on. But at the same time, a good moment for a young man to break
02:29 his goal drought.
02:30 Yeah, in front of the away fans as well, who deserve a very special mention for coming
02:35 to this for the fourth game against Coventry. But yeah, with Bailey, he probably needed
02:42 that. He's had a bit of a tough run. He's been putting in the work. It's not like he's
02:48 been sitting idle, but it's just not really gone for him. I thought he took his goal really
02:53 well, really instinctive striker's finish. Hopefully, that bodes well for him because
03:00 Wednesday aren't going to be saved this season by Bailey Kadamaci, but if he can chip in
03:03 with a few, then it does help.
03:06 As we said, it's been a terse quartet of matches between these two sides. Mark Robbins sat
03:13 in the seat that I think you were in just a few minutes ago and explained his displeasure,
03:18 I think is the polite way of saying it. He described Wednesday as 'these', beating these
03:23 was very sweet. And discussed an incident with Deshaun Bernard. Neither of us have seen
03:29 it back. But clearly, he was angered by it. What do you make of where this tie has gone?
03:37 Obviously, there's bigger issues at play that we've both written about at length. I'm certainly
03:42 quite glad to see the back of Wednesday vs Coventry this season.
03:46 Yeah, it's obviously all become very sort of tetchy.
03:49 For good reason, in large part.
03:52 Yeah, exactly. Obviously, the Casey Palmer situation really soured everything and you
03:57 can understand why Coventry feel that way about all of it, really. But yeah, I think
04:05 they're probably quite happy to see the back of it because it's become a bit of a circus,
04:10 hasn't it? With everything that's been going on around it. With all that said and done,
04:16 Casey Palmer was brilliant tonight. He was one of the best players on the pitch. Yeah,
04:21 I think it's not been nice and I do think from a Wednesday perspective, it's probably
04:27 quite nice to have this put to one side now. They're just a better side. I don't think
04:36 we'll be seeing them next season, probably.
04:39 One way or another. Last leg, Birmingham. Big old game. If Huddersfield was a six-pointer,
04:46 this now becomes something else entirely.
04:48 Yeah, what's the next one up? 12-pointer?
04:52 Yeah, they do with 12-pointers, don't they?
04:54 No, it's... The tough thing, I think, from everyone's perspective now is it's two games
05:00 now, even though this is the cup, where they've conceded eight goals and it just feels like
05:05 they've had the stuffing knocked out of them. It's going to take some serious work from
05:11 Danny Royal to pick them up from that Huddersfield game. Because of how important that was, it
05:16 did feel like a massive game. You worry that if they can't get up for that, if they can't
05:22 get something out of that, then where does he go next in terms of trying to draw blood
05:28 from this stone?
05:29 Trying to rouse something. We'll be hoping that he can do. We'll be following all the
05:33 efforts. How far away are you, by the way?
05:36 I feel like Father Ted.
05:38 Close, far away. But yeah, we'll be picking the bones out of this one and then obviously
05:44 heading into the quick turnaround, another quick turnaround for Sheffield Wednesday
05:48 to contend with at Hillsborough on Friday. Follow it all at thestar.co.uk.
