00:03 The Patriots certainly have had a whirlwind of an offseason.
00:06 We found out Bill Belichick's son took the job at the University of Washington.
00:11 Which to me, Vinny, is like the final signal of, yeah,
00:15 my pops ain't coaching this year.
00:17 Because I'm assuming if he was, I mean, his son would have went with him.
00:21 And honestly, I don't know the merits of Steve Belichick,
00:26 because it's sort of hard to tell,
00:27 because Bill Belichick was a great defensive coach too.
00:29 New England's defense never a problem, so he goes there.
00:34 Bill Belichick goes nowhere, Vinny.
00:35 So what is he doing here?
00:37 He's gonna take a year off, I mean, do the media?
00:39 I don't even know.
00:42 I know I'll see him in spring training on Jupiter with his boat, hanging out.
00:46 His wife's got a nice little shop on Jupiter Island.
00:49 I always see him there.
00:50 But beyond that, I mean, this was the coaching cycle, Vinny, to get hired.
00:55 There was a million coaches let go.
00:58 >> Yeah, I think the situations just didn't work out, right?
01:01 Either he was looking for maybe too much power, or
01:04 had to take on too much of a workload, right?
01:08 And had to get some things done to turn a team into a team that was gonna win some
01:13 games for him.
01:14 And ultimately, that's what he's trying to do,
01:16 win games as quickly as possible here.
01:18 He's turning 72, we mentioned before about the record sitting out there.
01:23 He's got to pass two more coaches, George Hallis, Don Shula,
01:26 to be the all time winningest coach.
01:27 You're not gonna do that necessarily with a rebuilding team, right?
01:31 I mean, the Chargers had the best situation by far,
01:33 cuz they had Justin Herbert, the quickest path to maybe getting wins.
01:36 But the rest of these situations, there was uncertainty about the quarterback.
01:40 You gotta rebuild different parts of the roster.
01:42 Is that team patient enough?
01:43 Probably not, right?
01:44 To see if he's gonna stick around for three or four more years to get that done.
01:49 Now, Bill Belichick, I think his best bet, if the Eagles and
01:53 the Cowboys get frustrated again in the playoffs,
01:56 those teams have an easier path to big winnings.
01:59 And they're getting to the Super Bowl.
02:01 So look at that, I think it has to be that path.
02:03 And I think it's gonna play out a lot like Tom Brady.
02:06 He kind of handpicked the team that he thought had some upside to get there and
02:10 kind of pad his numbers here.
02:12 I think it's gonna be the same for Belichick.
02:13 And I think Cowboys or Eagles, I think they'll be ready on standby
02:17 if they flop again in the playoffs.
