30 million Americans don’t know they’re owed money

00:03 Stocks were in the green to close out this Friday trading session.

00:06 The Dow closed up 133 points.

00:09 The tech-heavy Nasdaq closed up 1.7 percent while the S&P 500 closed just over 1 percent

00:15 higher.

00:16 Investors are continuing to react, of course, to the shockingly strong January jobs report,

00:21 which showed that the U.S. economy added 353,000 jobs in January, yet another sign of a robust

00:28 job market.

00:29 Investors also reacting to meta earnings.

00:31 The stock witnessed a double-digit pop on Friday after reporting better-than-expected

00:35 results in its fourth quarter.

00:37 Investors are looking ahead to another busy week of earnings.

00:40 Pinterest, Snap, Disney, Spotify and several others all set to release quarterly results

00:45 next week.

00:46 In other news, millions of Americans have unclaimed cash or assets they might not even

00:50 know they're actually entitled to.

00:53 According to the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators, more than 30 million

00:58 people have property that they've either forgotten about or never even knew they had.

01:03 This can include money from inactive bank accounts, checks that were sent to a previous

01:07 address, payouts from someone else's life insurance policy, or even uncashed paychecks.

01:13 The NAUPA has a website set up for Americans to see if they have, in fact, unclaimed property.

01:19 Just head on over to unclaimed.org/search and search the state you live in or previously

01:25 lived in.

01:26 Enter your name in the search box to see if you have any unclaimed property.

01:29 However, if you are looking for a big payday, you might want to temper those expectations

01:34 just a bit.

01:35 In 2022, more than $4 billion in unclaimed property was returned, but divided by 30 million

01:40 people, that comes out to an average of just $133 a person.
