Back Our Buses: What Sheffield residents think about their bus service

We asked residents waiting at Sheffield bus stops what think think about their bus service. This comes after The Star has launched its 'Back Our Buses' campaign, in partnership with South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard.

00:02 Yes.

00:02 Yeah, and what's your service like?

00:04 Well, it's mixed.

00:08 And in what way?

00:10 Well, you never know really when it's going to turn up.

00:13 I mean, in fact, a bus came when I came down at the time it said it was going to come,

00:18 and that bus, that was alright.

00:20 But I have waited here for an hour.

00:21 An hour?

00:22 Okay.

00:23 Which bus is your local service?

00:25 Bus 120, 97 and then there's the bus 1083.

00:31 And where does that one run to and from?

00:33 That's S5.

00:36 Okay.

00:37 So what's your service like?

00:39 It's okay.

00:41 It does last some time.

00:43 The timing doesn't really suit my waiting time, but generally it's fine.

00:50 Yeah.

00:51 So do you often find yourself having to wait for quite a while for your bus?

00:54 Yes, especially at night, maybe when I'm coming back from work.

00:58 Yeah.

00:59 So...

01:00 And in the evenings, do you ever end up having to find another way to get home then?

01:05 No, I think on two occasions.

01:08 Yeah.

01:09 Two occasions.

01:10 What's the service like on average? Is it often on time?

01:13 Not really.

01:15 Does it show up?

01:16 I mean, most of the time it's late or I just end up waiting for the next one.

01:21 So yeah, it doesn't always show up.

01:23 That's for sure.

01:24 Yeah.

01:25 And does that mean that often you're waiting for quite a long time at the bus stop?

01:28 Yeah.

01:29 I mean, the other day I was waiting for like 40 minutes by the stop that was just by my house,

01:33 but then it ends up just not being useful, even having a stop near me, because I'm just like, there's no point.

01:37 Do you think that the bus service could be improved?

01:40 Yeah, 100%.

01:42 Because then it's just like people will...

01:44 People just stop trying if it's at the service that it is now.

01:48 So if it was like more funding or anything, people would actually start using it

01:52 and then they'd see the profit coming in as well.

01:55 So yeah, 100%.
