Milton and I had returned to Raleigh from Colorado when we recorded this song in the Choke Monkey Kitchen in 1981 or so.
To me, life is better than no life. Life is also better when there is a challenge and a risk involved. That’s what these lyrics are all about. Just give in to the dance. Don’t turn askance. I only want to live with chance. It’s the best bet yet.
Hey. God made it like this. Who am I to complain? I’ve made the best of it, to be sure. There are things I would have done differently, but there are very few things I am ashamed of. I’m just a man, after all.
