00:01 Right, and we are officially recording.
00:05 Once again, thank you everybody for joining us.
00:07 This is the latest presentation
00:09 of the SOHH New Music Stat Picks,
00:13 and we are here, Cyrus, Chris G, Amar, Burton,
00:17 Trenton Coley, Hanan Offman,
00:19 and the amazing Hannah Cunningham
00:21 all here to tell you guys
00:23 who we're feeling in the world of music.
00:25 Some of these artists are brand new.
00:28 Some of them may have just been on that steady grind.
00:30 So for today, March 3rd, 2021,
00:34 we're super excited to tell you who we're liking.
00:37 But before we do that,
00:38 we have to look at who won last week.
00:42 That would be the one and only Amar Burton,
00:45 who is on camera.
00:46 You'll see him momentarily.
00:48 Amar, congratulations with your guy, Will Clay,
00:52 getting 67% of our votes,
00:53 nearly well over a thousand votes coming in
00:56 from our YouTube community channel.
00:58 Will Clay's mastermind.
00:59 For people who may have missed this
01:02 entire presentation last week,
01:03 who in the world is Will Clay?
01:05 - So if you don't know,
01:08 Will Clay is actually in like Olympic track and field
01:12 athlete.
01:16 He does long jump and triple jump.
01:18 But for the last year or so, he's been putting out music.
01:20 Obviously, he's gotten into the rap game.
01:22 And so yeah, his song that I had picked last week
01:25 was "Mastermind," one of his most recent tracks.
01:29 And yeah, he's doing his thing in the game.
01:31 Like he's making a big career change.
01:35 So I'm glad that he got recognized by the audience.
01:39 - Nice, man.
01:41 So there you go, Will Clay coming in at number one,
01:44 67% of the votes.
01:46 Coming in at number two, yes, I cheated with Hannah.
01:49 We put Taye Money's "Bussin'"
01:52 and BDS's "Ken's Tension" brought in 15% of the votes.
01:57 And then we have a three-way tie in third place.
02:00 Trenton, your artist TKP's "Nook's Movie"
02:03 brought in 6% of the votes.
02:06 Hanan, your Vinny Rozeville,
02:10 aka Summit's "Game 7" brought in 6% of those votes.
02:13 And then we also have KPFR's "We Go."
02:17 Chris's pick, I don't think it goes like that,
02:20 but Chris's pick brought in 6% of the votes.
02:22 So here we go.
02:24 This is my time to shine.
02:25 I'm wearing the SOHH brand, Hanan is as well.
02:28 So that means you should vote for my artist when I present.
02:31 But with that being said,
02:33 we're going to go in reverse order.
02:35 Typically we would have Amar try to repeat,
02:38 but we are going to go with who kind of came in last
02:40 all the way to who came in first regarding the new artist.
02:43 So with that being said,
02:44 we will start off with the one and only Hanan.
02:48 Hanan, who is your artist for this week?
02:50 - Well, it's a familiar name
02:54 because Chris had him last week.
02:57 So my artist is KPFR.
03:00 And the song I'm recommending is his recent song, "We Go."
03:06 Catchy track.
03:09 So, and I'm a sucker for that.
03:12 And I think that it's pretty clear why he's so popular.
03:19 He's so popular online and with like a younger audience.
03:22 And he, you know, he went viral, TikTok,
03:27 just on social media in general.
03:30 Celebrities have recognized that he really knows
03:34 how to create a sensation with the work he produces so far.
03:39 And he's just getting started.
03:40 And I'm really looking forward to what he's going to do
03:44 for the rest of the year.
03:46 And I bet it's going to be just as like,
03:48 you know, catchy and memorable.
03:52 - Okay. There's a lot of pressure for that too.
03:55 I mean, two straight weeks,
03:56 people got to be feeling like there's a chance
03:58 that they will vote for KPFR.
04:01 With that being said, big Chris, man,
04:03 you were dethroned from being champion to Amar.
04:06 This is your time to try to win back the title,
04:09 bounce back season.
04:10 Who do you have this week?
04:12 - Yeah, I'm kind of going his route too
04:13 with somebody else who wasn't primarily a rapper.
04:16 So this guy, his name is Navy Blue,
04:18 it's his artist name.
04:19 His real name is Sage El Cesar, I think his name is.
04:23 El Cesar.
04:23 He's a skater actually.
04:25 And he's a pretty famous skater.
04:26 He's sponsored by fucking awesome and Converse.
04:29 And he makes like really fire beats too.
04:31 And the song is called 1491 and it's pretty fire.
04:34 Like I would kind of compare him to like,
04:36 not so much this song,
04:38 but some of his music is kind of like Earl Sweatshirt,
04:40 like a little less mainstream,
04:41 but he still has some good lyrics and bars and stuff.
04:43 So I vote for him, vote for Navy Blue.
04:46 - Navy Blue, like Yankee Blue as well, man.
04:49 So let's jump on over to Trenton,
04:51 representing the West Coast out of the Seattle area.
04:54 Tacoma's in the building.
04:56 Yo, Big T, who you feeling this week, man?
04:58 - So man, I can't believe y'all not rocking with St. John.
05:02 I'm gonna go ahead and put St. John out there.
05:04 I think he's actually kind of an established artist
05:09 to be honest.
05:10 The track that I'm gonna suggest
05:12 is the Monica Lewinsky joint
05:15 that came out right around the end of last year.
05:17 Man, he got famous with the Roses.
05:21 He had a joint called Roses and somebody remixed it
05:24 and it got real big.
05:25 And I'm telling y'all the whole vibe
05:27 of this Monica Lewinsky joint,
05:29 don't judge me off of this y'all,
05:30 but the whole vibe of it and the melody of it is sick, man.
05:35 It rides for real.
05:37 - Yes, sir.
05:38 Monica Lewinsky, not to be confused with the remix,
05:42 Hillary Clinton, right?
05:43 So let's jump on over to Hannah.
05:46 Hannah, Hannah, did you not get my whole
05:48 Bill Clinton joke right there?
05:49 Monica Lewinsky, Hillary, no,
05:51 so it's like before you were born.
05:52 All good.
05:53 Hannah, let's get it.
05:55 Who are you feeling?
05:55 Are we still rocking with the drill rappers
05:57 or are we doing something different?
05:58 - Today I have a drill rapper, another one.
06:01 His name is 26AR, I think that's how you say it.
06:04 And he's from Crown Heights,
06:06 traditional Brooklyn drill rapper.
06:09 He actually was locked up
06:11 and that's when he started his career.
06:13 Like he heard, that's when drill rap
06:15 was kind of up and coming.
06:16 So he heard it over the phones and stuff
06:18 and was like, I should try to start this.
06:20 So he started writing lyrics while he was in jail.
06:22 And then as soon as he came out, he just started popping.
06:26 It took him eight months to kind of get his name around.
06:29 So then he dropped the album in 2020.
06:31 It was number one on Apple Music for a little bit.
06:34 And then, so one of the songs I'm recommending
06:37 is he dropped it like two weeks ago.
06:39 It's a freestyle called "Bless the Booth."
06:41 So yeah.
06:42 - Okay, "Bless the Booth."
06:45 And got you, all right.
06:47 And then for the one and only,
06:49 Cyrus, Cyrus in the building.
06:50 Cyrus, that's me.
06:51 Yes, I am going with,
06:52 I'm actually gonna kind of go out of my comfort zone.
06:55 I really like to present to you guys all
06:57 that turnt up music, you know, things that are anthems,
07:00 but I'm going to go a different route.
07:02 So today we are going with a rapper by the name of MNM,
07:07 out of the Detroit area.
07:10 No, we're not doing MNM.
07:11 Kid Vicious, also out of Detroit though.
07:14 This is Royce Da 5'9's brother.
07:16 I just recently got put up on him.
07:18 Once again, his name is Kid Vicious.
07:20 He just put out a new music video slash single
07:23 called "Construction of a Black Nation."
07:26 And it really has those vibes of,
07:27 sorry to kind of be a downer,
07:29 but kind of like the post George Floyd
07:32 and the insurrection in DC.
07:34 It's like, you know, really, you know, modern day slavery.
07:37 So it doesn't have that happy go lucky type feel.
07:40 It is very much like reality.
07:42 It's kind of what Nipsey Hussle would rap about.
07:44 Like, yo, it's fun to pop off in the club,
07:47 but we're going through some real life drama
07:50 out in this real world.
07:51 So it is a bit of a heavy song,
07:53 but I feel just, you know, like, hey,
07:55 it's very important to stay woke during these times.
07:58 So Kid Vicious, I'm pulling for you.
07:59 You're Royce the Five Nines brother.
08:01 You started off as this hype man,
08:02 and you're trying to buzz.
08:05 He's low key been around since I think 2014,
08:07 but still, he's still on that grind.
08:10 So even though he's been around for a few years,
08:12 he's working at it.
08:12 And I see Amar.
08:13 Amar's, oh man, he's looking like Bron Bron right now.
08:16 Lamar, excuse me, Amar, let's go to you, man.
08:19 In an effort to repeat as champ, who do you got, man?
08:22 - Okay, so for the third week in a row,
08:27 third week in a row,
08:28 gonna go with another West Coast artist.
08:31 This one is Amo98.
08:34 He's from Cali.
08:35 He's actually, he's from the West Coast
08:37 and like based in Cali right now,
08:39 but he's actually been around.
08:40 Like he lived in the DMV area for a while.
08:42 He lived in the UK.
08:44 And so he's got some kind of UK drill influence in his work.
08:49 But no, he's like a, you know, really recent,
08:53 kind of like Younger Cat, but the song's called Blue.
08:57 Kind of like what you said with your artist, Iris,
09:00 like kind of like a more, like a serious song,
09:02 you know, kind of a dark, you know, kind of a dark theme,
09:05 but the video is like real good, real artistic.
09:08 And the song itself, like he's got like a background,
09:11 like writing poetry and you could kind of hear that,
09:14 you know, those lyrics,
09:15 you got to hear that poetic element.
09:18 But yeah, like that's my artist for this week.
09:20 So, you know, check him out.
09:22 - You do not seem confident.
09:24 You look a little bit nervous.
09:26 You look like Kid Bish might be able to like swipe the boat.
09:29 A little bit nervous. - I'm not worried.
09:30 - No, you feel confident?
09:32 - I'm good, I'm not worried.
09:33 - You sure?
09:33 Oh man, oh man.
09:34 So that's gonna wrap it up.
09:36 FYI, if you've made it to this part of the video,
09:38 please make sure to look somewhere down below.
09:41 We have a playlist.
09:42 I believe you may have a Spotify playlist,
