Analysis from LCH Investments found the world's top 20 hedge funds recorded record profits of $67 billion in 2023, up from $65 billion in 2021. The hedge fund industry made estimated gains of $218 billion last year after fees, as stock markets surged. TCI was the top-performing fund, making $12.9 billion in profits for investors with a 33% return, beating the S&P 500. Citadel, the second best, brought in $8.1 billion in profits and has achieved $74 billion in gains since 1990, making it the most successful hedge fund.
