00:02 - Hey, what's up?
00:03 My name is Mo Gilligan,
00:04 and you are watching Live Minute TV.
00:06 (upbeat music)
00:08 It is an animated film, but you want kids to like it,
00:13 you want adults to like it.
00:14 - Well, it's about a cat who is so full of himself,
00:17 he thinks he has humans worked out.
00:19 And taking that attitude, he's used up eight of his lives.
00:23 By the time he finds Rose, he understands that,
00:26 wait a minute, there's something more than that.
00:27 He has the perfect life for sure,
00:29 but he does have a perfect owner.
00:31 - So I play Rose in 10 Lives,
00:33 and Rose is a very kind-hearted, passionate student
00:38 who initially doesn't really want a pet or any distraction.
00:42 And then she meets Beckett,
00:43 who is just, really changes the game
00:48 as to what we think of a fluffy animal
00:50 in a kid's animation would be.
00:52 - There's a lot of famous cats out there.
00:54 You know, I'm talking about Tom and Jerry, Puss in Boots,
00:56 Top Cat, there's a lot of famous cats
00:58 that I'm in the realm of.
01:00 - The way in which the script took off from very early on
01:04 was all down to these guys.
01:05 They could make it real, they could make it,
01:08 they could actually say things
01:09 that then I took back and put into the movie.
01:12 It's a lot of improvisation in the movie.
01:14 - As much as I'm funny on the screen,
01:16 I've got to make the cat funny and not be,
01:19 let me be funny, it's like, let the cat be funny.
01:21 So that was quite a challenge.
01:23 - I was just being myself,
01:24 and actually you feel more vulnerable
01:25 because you don't really hide behind anything.
01:28 You're just being you.
01:29 - As much as I get to give Beckett a voice
01:33 and a personality, it's knowing when to be funny
01:36 or when to be compassionate.
01:37 - Well, the music is amazing.
01:39 The songs are beautiful, very heartfelt.
01:43 I actually cried at the end of the script, in a good way,
01:46 because it had that emotional zinger right at the end,
01:50 and it made you feel, oh my God,
01:52 this is something special here.
01:54 And then from then on, everything else
01:56 and started to fit into place.
