00:19 Is it the one-inch tissue that we are concerned about, or is it the dead woman on the motel floor?
00:28 And this is the dead woman from the files of Dr. Milton Halpern, the medical examiner of New York City.
00:37 I had a subscription to Ms. Magazine. It was probably in 1973 or '74, something like that.
00:48 When, in one of the issues, there was an article about abortion, and there was a picture that was in with this article.
01:01 And although it didn't name any names, it dawned on me that this was the picture of my sister.
01:08 And I thought, well, how could Ms. Magazine get this picture?
01:14 You know, who did they know, or how did they know to go to get this picture?
01:20 And I'm still curious about that.
01:23 I was really in a state of shock for a couple of days earlier this year,
01:31 when I had the first phone call from someone asking me if I recall where the photograph,
01:38 how the photograph came to be used for this article.
01:41 And that the sister of the victim was seeking to find out.
01:47 I mean, it just sort of hit me.
01:50 Suddenly, this photograph came to life in a way that it had never done for me.
01:58 I don't remember exactly when I got the purse, or who gave it to me.
02:08 But I imagine it had to be somebody from the police department that gave it to me.
02:15 And it was just, it was shocking to me that this was all that was left of her.
02:22 And I put it away and didn't look at it ever again until just recently.
02:32 And I still can't believe that's all that she left behind, beside her two kids.
02:38 It was a waste. What a waste.
