00:00 On Monday morning, smoke billowed in northern Gaza
00:03 after Israeli forces once again bombed the territory.
00:06 Since the start of the war, many of its residents have fled south,
00:10 although the bombings have followed them there as well.
00:13 Palestinians who remember being expelled from their villages by Israeli forces in 1948
00:20 say the current conflict is worse.
00:26 "This one is hard. It's harder than any of the displacements.
00:30 They did not kill us then. We only left on foot. We kept on walking on the sand."
00:35 On October 7th, Hamas launched an attack that killed 1,200 Israelis,
00:43 according to the Israeli government.
00:45 The subsequent Israeli military campaign in Gaza has killed 20 times as many Palestinians,
00:52 according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
00:56 Despite some international calls for a ceasefire,
00:59 Israel says it has no intention of pausing hostilities.
01:02 "Every minute is critically significant, and we work with every opportunity and way
01:08 to bring them back. We do not intend to withdraw from Hanunis or from anywhere else.
01:13 The military action takes time. It requires us to be precise,
01:17 and we adapt it to the threats and to the hostages that are in the area."
01:25 In the north, Gaza City lies in ruins.
01:27 This was one of the first areas to be bombed by the Israeli army.
01:31 The few remaining residents still face frequent bombings.
01:36 On Saturday, a strike hit a building that housed three families.
01:40 "Where is the International Court of Justice? Let it come and see what happened here.
01:46 How much longer will this go on? My son is a martyr. My brother is a martyr.
01:50 My nephews are martyrs. There is no rest."
01:54 According to the United Nations, the war has displaced 85 percent of Gaza's 2.3 million
02:00 residents. They face acute shortages of food, water, medicine and fuel,
02:06 as well as a collapsing health system.
