00:00 Aaron Rodgers.
00:01 (applause)
00:03 Aaron Rodgers returns to the Pat McAfee Show
00:06 just one day after getting the boot.
00:09 The New York Jets quarterback calls in to the stream
00:11 from his post-season getaway out in the wilderness.
00:14 Aaron Rodgers.
00:15 (applause)
00:18 Aaron, how you doing, pal?
00:20 Can you guys see me?
00:21 Yeah, you look fantastic.
00:22 You look great.
00:23 Clearer than whenever you usually call us from,
00:24 wherever, actually.
00:26 Okay, good, yeah, 'cause I'm out here in the woods,
00:28 so I'm glad.
00:31 I can't see you guys, so this is perfect.
00:33 (laughter)
00:33 Top of the line, you look great.
00:34 You need to know that.
00:35 You're out in the woods, obviously,
00:36 doing your off-season stuff.
00:39 Activities.
00:40 Activities, ventures.
00:41 Is that a good way to describe it?
00:44 That the off-season has begun, yes.
00:46 Mustache looks good, too.
00:48 No darkness here.
00:49 This is, you can tell, there's a lot of light.
00:51 There's good books to actually read behind me.
00:54 So we're not doing that darkness thing anymore.
00:56 Smart, smart.
00:57 So why is Aaron back, despite Pat announcing
00:59 he won't be appearing on the show anymore?
01:01 Well, it has to do with Bill Belichick,
01:03 head coach of the New England Patriots,
01:05 revealing his departure from the team after 24 seasons.
01:09 According to Pat, Rogers was the last person
01:11 Bill Belichick talked to on the field
01:13 as the Patriots head coach,
01:15 and they brought him on for his take on the news.
01:18 Bill did things his own way,
01:21 and had a ton of success with it,
01:22 and people tried to copy it and couldn't do it.
01:25 I think that's the greatest compliment
01:26 you can give Bill besides the respect
01:29 of competing against him.
01:31 And that's what I always try to give him when I saw him.
01:33 You know, one of my favorite things about Bill
01:35 is his love for the game.
01:37 I actually was doing an interview on the field
01:40 after we beat him in a game that went back and forth,
01:43 and Bill waited until my interview ended.
01:46 And I just thought that was one of the coolest,
01:47 classiest things ever.
01:49 I mean, this is an absolute no-brainer,
01:51 Hall of Fame game-changer,
01:52 guy who was a trailblazer in the league,
01:55 and did things no one's ever done before.
01:58 Arguably the greatest coach in NFL history.
02:01 Following the chat, Pat and his co-host
02:03 discussed the reaction to McCarthy announcing
02:05 that Aaron's regular appearances would be ending.
02:08 That was wild.
02:09 We were getting absolutely killed.
02:10 They were like, "You turned your back on Aaron Rodgers!"
02:14 It's like, do you know how many things I've been through
02:16 with Aaron Rodgers just in our short relationship?
02:19 It's like, yeah, I was not pumped
02:21 to be in the middle of any of that.
02:23 We all have friends that put us in situations
02:25 where we're like, "Did we have to?"
02:28 Did we?
02:30 Did you have to?
02:30 Did we?
02:32 I've been that guy.
02:32 This one's a bit unique, yeah.
02:34 Unique situation.
02:35 On January 10th, McCarthy confirmed
02:37 that Rodgers would not be coming back to his ESPN show
02:40 following a series of comments
02:42 in which he appeared to suggest Jimmy Kimmel
02:44 had possible connections
02:45 to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
02:48 What we do know is the guy that stopped by yesterday
02:50 caused quite a conversation.
02:51 Well, a bit, yeah.
02:53 Now?
02:54 Very usual.
02:55 Not like that.
02:56 The, so Aaron Rodgers Tuesday, season four is done.
03:01 Yeah.
03:01 (clapping)
03:02 Complete, mid-season.
03:04 There's gonna be a lot of people that are happy with that,
03:05 myself included, to be honest.
03:07 With the way it ended, it got real loud.
03:09 And real loud.
03:11 I'm happy that that is not gonna be my mentions
03:14 going forward.
03:15 Some of his thoughts and opinions, though,
03:17 do piss off a lot of people.
03:19 A lot of people.
03:19 And I'm pumped that that is no longer gonna be
03:23 every single Wednesday of my life,
03:26 which it has been for the last few weeks.
03:27 E! News reached out to Rodgers' rep
03:29 for comment after the announcement,
03:30 but has not yet heard back.
03:32 Rodgers, who had previously made weekly appearances
03:35 on "Pat's Show," first called out Kimmel January 2nd
03:38 when he brought up the impending release
03:40 of a series of court documents related to Epstein.
03:42 He then declared on air.
03:44 A lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel,
03:47 are really hoping that doesn't happen.
03:48 She ain't believe.
03:50 Kimmel responded in a statement posted on X,
03:52 formerly known as Twitter,
03:54 speaking directly to Rodgers, saying,
03:56 for the record, I've not met, flown with, visited,
03:59 or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein,
04:01 nor will you find my name on any list
04:04 other than the clearly phony nonsense
04:06 that soft-brained wackos like yourself
04:08 can't seem to distinguish from reality.
04:10 Your reckless words put my family in danger.
04:12 Keep it up, and we will debate the facts further in court.
04:16 He later addressed Rodgers' comments during his monologue
04:18 on the January 8th episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
04:21 Did you hear this story about me and Aaron Rodgers,
04:24 the former quarterback for the Packers?
04:26 All right, so what happened is he's a Jets quarterback now.
04:29 He went on a show on ESPN, the Pat Mackney Show,
04:32 and out of the blue insinuated that I was nervous
04:35 because the Jeffrey Epstein list was coming out.
04:38 He said I was hoping it wouldn't,
04:40 and that he was gonna pop a bottle of something
04:42 to celebrate when he did,
04:45 and then it did come out,
04:46 and of course my name wasn't on it,
04:47 and isn't on it, and won't ever be on.
04:49 I don't know Jeffrey Epstein.
04:51 I've never met Jeffrey Epstein.
04:53 I'm not on a list.
04:54 I was not on a plane or an island or anything ever,
04:56 and I suggested that if Aaron wanted to make false
05:00 and very damaging statements like that,
05:03 that we should do it in court
05:04 so he could share his proof with a judge,
05:06 because when you hear a guy who won the Super Bowl
05:10 and did all the State Farm commercials
05:12 say something like this, a lot of people believe it.
05:15 A lot of delusional people honestly believe
05:19 I am meeting up with Tom Hanks and Oprah at Shakey's
05:22 once a week to eat pizza and drink the blood of children.
05:25 The next day, during his regular appearance
05:28 on McAfee's show, Rogers attempted to clarify
05:31 his previous remarks, but didn't apologize to Kimmel.
05:35 I still, in the end, to sum this up,
05:37 listen, I still haven't popped a bottle
05:39 because there hasn't been any list that's come out.
05:42 And I'm glad that Jimmy is not on the list.
05:47 I really am.
05:50 And I don't think he's the B word.
05:55 And I think it's impressive that a man
06:02 who went to Arizona State and has 10 joke writers
06:08 can read off a prompter.
06:10 So, my education at JUCO and my three semesters at Cal
06:15 that I'm very proud of has worked out for me
06:18 and I'm glad to see it's worked out for him as well.
06:19 So I wish him the best.
06:21 (upbeat music)
