Ja Morant might have to re-think his "I'm fine in the West" statement in his interview with Malika Andrews prior to the Grizzlies' Christmas Day matchup with the Warriors after some HUGE trade deadline moves. Kevin Durant to the Suns, Kyrie Irving to the Mavs, and D'Angelo Russell to the Lakers will shake up an already competitive Western Conference.

00:00 No one in the West. Nah, I'm fine in the West. This was wild to me
00:04 What's going on guys today
00:14 We're gonna talk about the revamped Western Conference after the trade deadline and John Moran's freezing cold take before the end of last year
00:20 Before we do that make sure to LIKE this video and tell me in the comments who you think will be the team that comes
00:25 Out of the West this year
00:26 Alright, so right before Christmas job was feeling pretty confident about the Grizzlies and where they stacked up in the West and rightfully
00:32 So they were 20 and 11 at the time and seemed to be poised to take that next leap forward as potential title contenders
00:37 But since Moran's bold interview with ESPN's Malika Andrews things have taken a turn for the worse
00:42 The Grizzlies have gone 10 and 13 since then and 6 and 8 against Western Conference opponents
00:47 And if it wasn't bad enough to already be moving in the wrong direction
00:49 Then the trade deadline hit where now the Western Conference seems a whole lot scarier than it did 72 hours ago
00:55 You've got the Mavericks acquiring Kyrie Irving the Lakers trading for D'Angelo Russell
00:59 And then of course the midnight madness that sent Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns to team up with CP3 and Devin Booker
01:04 Now whether the Lakers prospects of making the playoffs have changed all that much your guess is as good as mine
01:09 But John Moran and the Grizzlies will most definitely have to worry about these new look Mavericks and Suns squads
01:13 That's before even mentioning the NBA surprise team of the year in the Sacramento Kings
01:17 And you've also got dangerous teams like the Pelicans
01:20 Timberwolves and the Warriors seem to be comfortably flying under the radar despite being the current reigning NBA champion
01:25 Then of course you got the Nuggets who currently have the top spot in the West and then the cherry on top is the Clippers
01:30 Who for whatever reason can't seem to get things to go their way
01:33 But they have a lot of talent and could easily make a push in the playoffs as well
01:36 But I think I've made my point by now this Western Conference while maybe not loaded at the time of the interview was certainly very
01:42 Competitive and it just got even more competitive with all these new additions
01:45 So I definitely didn't agree with what he said in a lot of ways. I respected his borderline disrespectful confidence that he showed in that interview
01:52 It served as an on-the-record form of shit-talking that he now has to back up or fail trying
01:56 Not a lot of guys seem to be willing to do that in the league today
01:59 And while it's certainly a risky move at the very least it'll be entertaining to watch him try and back those words up in one
02:04 Of the most talent-loaded conferences we've seen in a really really long time
02:07 And if he does we could be looking at the next superstar of this league
02:11 But what do you guys think?
02:12 Will he back up the talk or is he gonna find himself watching the finals back at home this summer?
