00:00 The details of what exactly happened is still very foggy. So let's start with what we know for sure
00:06 We know that a UN owned helicopter had to make an emergency landing in a central region of Somalia
00:13 Because of a technical glitch now that region is under the control of the Al Qaeda affiliated terror group al-shabab
00:21 It's believed that six of the helicopters passengers have now been captured by the terror group
00:28 Two of them have gone missing and one of them was killed. It's believed during the emergency landing
00:34 Now the UN has said that none of the passengers were members of its staff. They were all third-party
00:39 contractors and the organization has also said that they're not yet aware of the
00:45 nationalities of any of those who were on board
00:48 The UN and the Somali government have now launched emergency rescue operations
00:54 But those missions are not going to be easy. The region is
00:58 Incredibly difficult to access as it's been under the control of al-shabab for more than ten years now
01:06 So who are al-shabab?
01:08 Well, they're an insurgency group that's been trying to topple the UN backed Somali government for years
01:16 They want to put in place an Islamic state. They have fighters all over Somalia
01:21 But they're mostly concentrated in the central and southern parts of the country
01:26 The group also has a history of seizing foreign hostages and some of them they've kept in
01:33 captivity for years
