The Jets Could End Up Regretting Trading for Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers has made headlines for everything but playing this season, making it reasonable to wonder whether the New York Jets regret trading for him.

00:09 but when you consider the injury and the headlines, do you think the Jets are going, "Yeah, maybe

00:14 we shouldn't have traded for this guy"?

00:17 I don't think so.

00:18 I mean, he's a character, but at the end of the day, if you're the Jets, y'all probably

00:22 like being talked about and not being talked about.

00:26 And he's immensely talented, so it sucks that they lost in the fashion that they did, but

00:31 ultimately you know you're going to get him back.

00:34 And you believe to be a contender with him under center.

00:37 So I would say no.

00:39 I think all the off-field stuff just makes you roll your eyes, but ultimately he's the

00:45 best option or quarterback you've had probably in your team's history.

00:49 Yeah, except for it hasn't worked out that way, and I think they could have looked in

00:54 other directions and other options.

00:56 Like by bringing in Aaron Rodgers, they didn't upgrade Zach Wilson.

01:00 That's one thing they didn't do.

01:01 They kept Nathaniel Hackett on as offensive coordinator because of their relationship,

01:04 even though he's a proven failure at that position.

01:06 They brought in Rodgers' boys in Lazard and the like at wide receiver.

01:11 That didn't work out for them.

01:12 They had the worst offense I've probably ever seen in my life.

01:15 I don't know if simply putting him back behind center is going to fix that.

01:19 He's getting older.

01:20 He's coming off in Achilles, and the Packers had a better record this year without him

01:23 than they did last year with him.

01:25 I mean, that's fair, but at the end of the day, if he's under center, knowing what they

01:30 can do on defense, knowing the rhythm that he plays with, especially knowing that he

01:36 has his guys there, I feel like despite the fact that those players weren't successful

01:41 under Wilson and Hackett, where Rodgers is like, "Oh, well, look, they have a camaraderie,

01:45 so they should be much better."

01:48 And like I said, they just need to be talked about and relevant.

01:50 I think it's great for the Jets just to be relevant.

01:53 And I think Rodgers helps them with it, regardless if they win the Super Bowl or not.

01:57 So to me, I think the trade is worth it, assuming next year he can still be effective.

02:04 I think every NFL team is relevant as long as they win, and I'm not so sure they're going

02:08 to do that with him.
