New storm threatens with blizzard, flooding and winds

Yet another significant weather system will pummel parts of the central and eastern United States into the weekend, including blizzard conditions, intense winds and severe weather.

00:00 Well, we continue to track this a

00:01 monstrous storm that continues to

00:03 plow here across a lot of the

00:05 central and eastern US and it's

00:07 not just the heavy rain and severe

00:09 weather we're concerned about.

00:10 But hey, that is a big problem there,

00:13 especially around the South

00:14 right along that Gulf Coast.

00:16 But hey, points further north.

00:17 You're seeing that we're cranking

00:19 out some heavy, heavy snow,

00:20 and with this storm, well, hey,

00:22 it's going to be blowing around a lot

00:24 of that precipitation too as well.

00:26 If we look at the setup here into Tuesday

00:28 night we're going to see those winds.

00:31 Really start to pick up howling here.

00:33 That's going to extend from the Midwest

00:35 Ohio Valley into the Northeast with

00:37 our highest winds being right there

00:38 along the eastern seaboard,

00:39 southern New England down to

00:41 the mid Atlantic coast.

00:42 We could see gusts between

00:43 60 to 80 mph, but hey,

00:45 I wouldn't be surprised if we got a

00:47 wind report as high as 90 mph.

00:49 Meanwhile, a little bit back further

00:50 West across the interior Northeast

00:51 down through the Ohio Valley.

00:53 And of course the Midwest.

00:54 We could still see gusts between

00:56 40 to 60 mph when you look at

00:58 the snow, but it's still a little

00:59 bit higher than 90 mph when you

01:01 pair the winds of course with the snow.

01:03 Hey, you're going to have some

01:05 problems there on the road,

01:06 and if we look at total snowfall

01:08 here in to Tuesday night,

01:09 we have a dark blue bullseye here

01:11 that extends across eastern Iowa.

01:12 That's going to be our 12 to 18 inch

01:15 mark there with your accurate local

01:17 storm X as high as 20 inches falling

01:19 within that heaviest band,

01:20 but we still do have some heavy

01:22 and significant snow pulling

01:23 through across a lot of Nebraska,

01:25 eastern Nebraska up through most of

01:27 Iowa, Southern Wisconsin,

01:28 including Green Bay.

01:29 And then of course across

01:30 Western and Michigan.

01:31 That's where we could still see

01:33 upwards to a foot of snow.

01:35 6 to 12 inches.

01:36 In fact,

01:36 meanwhile,

01:37 out ahead of this storm across the Northeast,

01:39 we're talking about some big power

01:41 outage risk here Tuesday into Wednesday.

01:43 That's going to extend right there

01:45 through western central Pennsylvania,

01:46 up through western New York,

01:47 where we could see some widespread

01:49 power outage issues.

01:50 Also there right along the immediate

01:52 coast down through the Cape,

01:54 the Southern Cape,

01:54 and then down through the

01:56 Southern Cape down through Southern

01:58 New England as well,

01:59 including Long Island.

02:00 But even regional power outage

02:01 risks are going to extend for areas

02:03 like New York City down through

02:05 Philadelphia now on top of the winds.

02:07 We're also tracking some heavy rain

02:08 and that's going to cause a major

02:10 flood risk because hey,

02:11 like we just saw this past weekend,

02:13 we had a lot of snow fall

02:15 in some of these areas.

02:16 I know New York,

02:17 Philly you missed out on all your snow,

02:19 but even so with the combination

02:21 of snow melts and rain, well,

02:23 hey, we're talking big problems

02:24 here Tuesday into Tuesday night,

02:25 and that's of course going to extend

02:27 right here through New England down

02:29 through eastern Pennsylvania through

02:30 the mid Atlantic we are talking about.

02:33 Roadways underwater dangerous travel folks.

02:35 It is so easy to achieve flooding,

02:37 especially in these urban areas.

02:38 Make sure you're staying weather aware,

02:40 taking precautions and never ever

02:41 driving through these flooded areas

02:43 or roadways turn around.

02:44 Don't drown.

02:45 We're also concerned about rapidly

02:46 rising creeks and rivers when all

02:48 is said and done.

02:49 How much know are we really

02:51 talking about here?

02:52 Well, right through central Pennsylvania

02:53 and will hey,

02:54 right around Accuweather HQ we could

02:56 see upwards of three to six inches.

02:58 Now that snow is going to be mixed

03:00 with sleet here into the northeast.

03:02 So hey,

03:02 not all the way big poppy snow

03:04 that we've been talking about.

03:05 It's going to be a little

03:07 messy there at times,

03:08 but even points further north,

03:10 especially there across Western Maine.

03:12 That's where we could still see

03:13 upwards 2 to 12 inches Tuesday,

03:15 all the way through Wednesday night.

03:17 So hey,

03:17 this storm is bringing us it all.
