Aired (January 7, 2024): Chef JR Royol sits down with Urban Chick owner Tita Jay Guiang to talk about how she began her business and to experience the different delicious dishes served in the restaurant.

00:23 This all started with my children. I have three kids but they're all grown up now.

00:28 So at the time when they were still in school, I would let them bring home cooked food.

00:35 Every time they would come home, I would ask them what happened.

00:39 It turns out that they were all their classmates.

00:41 Urban Chick is 10 years old. We started in 2013.

00:45 We only started like a garage, a hole in the wall.

00:49 And then somehow, you know, we prevailed.

00:52 We were just thinking about what we could cook. If it's just a few people in one day,

00:59 maybe it won't reach 100.

01:01 We have meetings here, we have discussions here, we have videos here.

01:07 What the kids are doing. And then, they just grew up.

01:12 Of course, we should experience the signature dishes that are brought back here by students

01:18 and varsity players of nearby universities in the area.

01:22 Alphan Meal derives its name from an org of my son, Jules.

01:29 They want to have an anniversary name meal here in Urban Chick, their org.

01:36 So I called it Alphan Meal. Why?

01:39 Because our bestseller is Chicken Barbecue, leg and thigh.

01:42 And this is the famous croquette, cheese croquette.

01:47 So I want you to taste this because this is the recipe of my grandmother.

01:51 Oh, it's an heirloom recipe.

01:53 So the potato itself is flavored already.

01:59 It's that perfect combination of the soft texture inside, very flavorful.
