Cameron Moore's Fatal Crash @ Clutha River 2019 (Aftermath)

New Zealand jet boat racer and rally competitor Cameron Moore, 45-year-old, of Christchurch, lost his life while participating in the Otago Rivers Jet Boat Race held on Clutha River on Sunday, 24 February 2019.
About 13h15, during the first of two afternoon legs, black boat #U84 driven by Moore and his navigator Adam Wilton, suddenly went out of control on a water straight, skidded and crashed into the river bank. Moore died instantly. Wilton, 34, from Rangiora was transported to Dunedin hospital with concussion and two broken fingers. Steering failure was named as the cause of the accident.
Owner of Ballinger’s Hunting & Fishing in Christchurch, Cameron Moore was a well-known jet boat racer with more than 10 years of competition, including participation in the World Championship Jet Boat Marathon in 2018. He also participated in car rallies, being usually co-driven by Chris Nicholas since the mid-2000s.
