Justice Department Files Lawsuit Against Texas Over Controversial Immigration Law
  • 4 months ago
The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Texas over the state's new immigration law, SB4, allowing state and local law enforcement to arrest, jail, and prosecute migrants who entered the US illegally. The Biden administration warned Texas it would sue if the state didn't assure it wouldn't enforce the new law, which also allows judges to issue deportation orders. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said SB4 was created to address illegal immigration facilitated by Biden, and that Texas is prepared to fight the lawsuit.
