00:07 I'm great honored to present my letter of credentials to His Excellency just now.
00:15 We had a very friendly and a free form meeting.
00:20 His Excellency and I talked about the bilateral cooperation and the relations.
00:28 Rwanda is an important country.
00:32 We have congratulated Rwanda on its achievements in the development and its stability.
00:41 Since the establishment of the bilateral ties, our bilateral cooperation and friendship have grown at a faster pace.
00:53 In recent years, the exchange visit of President Kagame and President Xi Jinping have brought our bilateral relations to a new stage.
01:05 In the face of COVID-19, our two countries stood in solidarity against the virus.
01:12 And we look forward to work together to deepen our bilateral political trust and promote the mutual beneficial cooperation.
01:23 And look forward to more and new progress in our cooperation.
01:29 I mentioned I'm honored to be appointed the ambassador.
01:35 During my tenure, I will exert my best efforts to deepen our bilateral cooperation and to promote our friendship.
01:45 And I'm looking forward to working with our Rwanda friends to improve our cooperation and lead it to a new level.

02:20 When I was coming here, I was addressed by the President.
02:25 He said this is not time for political diplomacy, but economic diplomacy.
02:34 To do something for our people.
02:36 So here I am, to learn what Rwanda is doing right.
02:42 Rwanda is at a stage where I want to be.
02:45 So I will do my best to learn and advise my government what we must do.
02:54 And I think there's a lot we can also do together like trade, tourism.
03:01 We need to end this idea that we have to get visas to go to Malawi or to come to Rwanda.
03:10 I think Rwanda has opened up, so Malawi too needs to do that.
03:16 Apart from that, there are things to do with the youth, the women, how we can empower people.
03:23 Very soon there will be a joint payment commission of cooperation, JPCC, sometime later this month.
03:33 That is part of the whole process.
03:36 We want to cooperate more in all spheres.
03:41 Perhaps I should say something that people may not be aware of.
03:46 When we got independence, a lot of our people were excited about leaders from all over the world.
03:52 So they named the roads after them. It was quiet.
03:56 Then because of the visit of the president Kagame to Malawi, we've been named a road after him.
04:03 We've got the Kagame road.
04:05 That's how highly we rate our relationship with the president here.
04:11 They are two very good friends, Dr. Raza Schaekwela and your president.
04:18 So we want to take it to a higher level.
04:20 And interestingly, he said he wants to visit Malawi.
04:24 So he asked his minister to say, "Let's work on this."
04:29 He's very welcome to Malawi.
