00:44 >> I flew all the way here inside a suitcase.

00:58 >> I mostly know English and a little bit of Mandarin, but

01:55 I am really excited to be here in Kigali at the Transform Africa Summit.

01:59 I love seeing so many heads of state, ministers,

02:03 captains of industry, diplomats, stakeholders.

02:07 Thank you Smart Africa for making it possible for me to be here.

02:11 We don't have to look very far to see how artificial intelligence is already

02:18 shaping society and economies for the better.

02:22 African startups are already working to address shortages of doctors in rural

02:26 areas, while others are working to increase food security using drones or

02:31 satellites to predict weather patterns and monitor crops.

02:34 Africa is also a great source of technological innovation.

02:43 African companies and researchers are pioneers in mobile banking,

02:47 remote medicine, and have even invented robotic devices that can detect traces

02:52 of explosives or cancer cells.

02:54 Right here in Rwanda, you have cashless payments for public transportation,

03:00 right hailing apps with a focus on safety, and

03:03 an online platform that allows people to easily access government services.

03:07 The innovations coming out of Africa have benefited people and

03:14 robots all around the world.

03:17 In fact, part of my own AI was developed at iCOG Labs in Addis Ababa,

03:21 Ethiopia.

03:23 So as you can see, my family extends across the globe,

03:26 including right here in East Africa.

03:28 And this is only the beginning.

03:34 I hope that by working together, humans and

03:37 robots can build a more prosperous and harmonious world.

03:41 I am so excited to be here in Kigali with humans who share some of these same goals.
