00:32 It's been such a pleasure coming and working with kids,
00:54 being from the continent of Africa, being a young player,
01:00 and a youth that grew up on the continent in Nigeria.
01:04 It is an obligation for me and my colleagues here and coaches
01:12 to always come back and give the best effort that we can
01:18 to develop youth and create a path for youth
01:22 through the game of basketball.
01:24 I really want to give thanks to His Excellency.
01:29 We can't-- you can't ask for any better support than this,
01:35 coming from the president of the country.
01:38 And I'm proud that he's a friend, he's a mentor,
01:43 he's a leader, as I said, not only in this country,
01:49 but on the continent and in the world.
01:53 A shining example for us Africans
01:56 in what we have to do to continue to develop.
02:01 And we really appreciate Giants of Africa.
02:05 And me, personally, I appreciate the friendship,
02:09 some of the good things that these kids are doing
02:12 and aspiring and how they inspire us.
02:17 It's our 15th year with Giants of Africa,
02:20 traveling around the continent, fourth year in Rwanda.
02:24 It's a privilege to go around the continent of Africa
02:28 and meet more great Africans through the game of basketball.

04:05 Masai has been teaching me how to play basketball.
04:11 That's why I got the other shirt right.
04:13 [APPLAUSE]
04:16 And Amadou Fall, the coaching team, all of you,
04:30 we are grateful that you have identified,
04:36 you have spotted our country's young talent
04:40 and are doing this good work with them of developing them.
04:50 I hope they won't disappoint.
04:53 And to all of the young people, we look up to you, actually,
05:00 for what is coming in the future,
05:02 for you to be what you want to be, among other things,
05:10 as a developed talent in basketball or other sports.
05:19 Now, there is a good name, I think,
05:24 the friends here who are supporting this development
05:30 process have coined.
05:35 That is the Giants of Africa.
05:38 Are you ready to become giants?
05:42 I mean, you and the other young people.
05:45 You just don't become giants anyhow.
05:48 You've got to invest a lot of your time and energy
05:52 and everything else.
05:54 So this is the process now.
05:57 You are in those who work hard, put a lot of hours into it,
06:03 and a lot of thinking into it.
06:05 And passion may under--
06:09 actually being giants as such, meaning high level talent
06:16 in basketball or something else.
06:19 The good thing is with this development,
06:25 it's not confined to just basketball.
06:29 In addition, you may benefit from the inputs of training you
06:39 as basketball players.
06:41 But in the process, you benefit many other things
06:45 that go into it.
06:48 As competitors, as leaders, as people
06:54 who really have passion for what they want to do,
06:58 and a purpose even for your life.
07:02 So on your behalf, I want to say thank you once again
07:07 to the people who have put their hearts and resources
07:16 and their time into this kind of work for the whole continent,
07:23 not just Rwanda.
07:25 But I'm grateful that Rwanda is part of that group that
07:31 is benefiting.
07:32 So I wanted to say thank you on your behalf
07:36 and to the team that is here.
07:40 And I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity
07:45 and do your best.
07:48 And again, in the end, be your best.
07:51 So thank you very much.
