Chris Columbus Reveals The Story Behind Donald Trump's Cameo In "Home Alone 2"

00:51 In the sequel, Kevin is left behind by his family again and this time the family goes to New York.

00:58 There was a part of the movie which had to be shot in the famous Plaza Hotel in New York.

01:04 And at that time, Donald Trump forcefully made his entry in the second part of Home Alone.

01:11 The Home Alone director said, "Like most locations in the New York City,

01:15 you just pay a fee and you are allowed to shoot in that location."

01:20 "We approached the Plaza Hotel, which Trump owned at that time, because we wanted to shoot in the lobby.

01:27 We couldn't reveal the Plaza on a soundstage," Trump said.

01:31 "Okay, we paid the fee, but he also said, 'The only way you can use the Plaza is if I am in the movie.'"

01:39 After the shoot, Chris wasn't sure whether the final cut would have his scene.

01:49 When he went for testing before the audience, Chris was surprised at the reaction that the scene received.

01:56 He said that when they premiered it for the first time, people went crazy after watching Trump on screen.
