Chris Miller and Phil Lord interview.
Transcript
00:00 There are so many amazing ways that Across the Spider-Verse ties into Into the Spider-Verse,
00:07 and they can't be coincidences, the way that certain things lay out.
00:10 I won't get into specifics, you know, I'll let people discover them for themselves.
00:13 But I want to know how much of Across you guys knew when you were doing Into, and what's
00:18 one thing that you wish you would put in the first film that might have helped the next
00:22 two?
00:23 Wow.
00:24 There are a couple of things.
00:25 I think that we, you know, there's the beat at the end of the first movie.
00:29 Right.
00:30 We had to do a bit of retconning.
00:31 There's a little bit of retconning on that as far as, you know, he's older now, and it
00:35 was, you know, in the first movie it was still his younger design.
00:39 We almost, I tried to talk Chris into going back into the first film and revising the
00:44 final shot to make Miles look older.
00:48 That's funny.
00:49 And also, it's unclear in that final shot, it's Miles dropping into his bed.
00:54 It's unclear whether he's in his dorm room or in his parents' house.
01:00 And he, and it was his bed from the dorm room, so we had to kind of like retcon it into his
01:08 parents' apartment.
01:10 We also did a big redesign on Captain George Stacy, who appears very briefly in the first
01:14 movie, but doesn't look like the way the character that's played by Shea Wigum is in this movie.
01:21 Yeah, I would have given Dr. Jonathan Ohn a cool beard and hairstyle.
