Interview with Mila Kunis and Michael Keaton
Transcript
00:00Oh, we've all kind of had these interactions where there's a movie that's like super precious
00:03to us and we want to wait to show it to our kids.
00:05Do you ever have one where you like showed it to them thinking they're going to fall
00:08in love with it and they just didn't connect?
00:10Yeah.
00:11Yeah.
00:11Are you ready for it?
00:12Yeah.
00:12Sure.
00:13Oh God, guys, this is a, brace yourself for a story that I'll try to make it really short.
00:18We were in Iowa and it was a beautiful summer night and we were like, we have a projector
00:23because we were on a road trip and so we have a projector in our RV, in our camper van.
00:26And we were like, okay, let's project one of our favorite movies onto the garage door
00:32in Iowa and the kids will all get their little blankets out and it's going to be like.
00:36Like driving.
00:36Yes.
00:37We're going to do like a fun little movie for them.
00:39And we were like, okay, what movie can we show them?
00:41We're like, and both Ash and I went, you know, we just showed them Back to the Future.
00:44So they loved it.
00:45We were like, okay, we're on a roll.
00:47We're going to show them Indiana Jones.
00:50Yeah.
00:50I would think that would be good.
00:51Okay.
00:51Well, okay.
00:52You think so until you watch it and you realize it is not, okay?
00:57Because on a big screen in Iowa on the garage door, it's just a lot of Nazi swastikas and
01:06bloody, demon-y things coming out.
01:09It was the worst decision we made in a really long time.
01:13But they're the bad guys.
01:14But it doesn't matter.
01:15The visual of it is not.
01:17Really?
01:18No, it did not translate at this age.
01:19Wow.
01:19They were maybe like, maybe they're like eight and six.
01:23So my five cents, hold off on showing Indiana Jones to your children until they're a little
01:27bit older.
01:28Yeah.
01:28And we kept going, oh my God, someone's going to drive by and just see like the swastika
01:32on the garage door and think like something awful.
01:36Like I was mortified, mortified at what the decision we made was.
01:40Well, you should have just called J.D. Vance and the family.
01:42Have them for a watch.
01:43Oh my God.
01:44Like, come on over.
01:45You might really like this one.
01:47Yeah, that was a bad decision.
01:50That was definitely one that we were like, oh, I think we failed on that one.
01:53And then my daughter, I have so many.
01:55I failed so many times.
01:56I texted my girlfriend at one point and I went, I'm so sorry for what you're going to
02:00get tomorrow morning.
02:01My best friend's little girl came to sleep over and I was like, they both love cheerleading.
02:07And I was like, amazing.
02:08There were maybe like eight at the time.
02:10Or maybe there were nine.
02:11And I was like, great.
02:12There's this great movie called Bring It On.
02:14You're going to love it.
02:16What is it?
02:17Well, it was a great movie for a teenager.
02:20It's not a good movie for an eight-year-old.
02:22Because why?
02:23Oh, the language and the connotation.
02:25I was like, oh my God.
02:27My husband looked at me and he was like, what are you doing?
02:30I was like, I don't know.
02:31I don't know.
02:31I'm watching everything go above their heads.
02:33I'm hoping that they didn't like register.
02:35There were so many sexual innuendos.
02:37Were there girls and boys watching?
02:39Just girls.
02:40Wow, really?
02:40Oh, that was risky.
02:41And so did you, when you tried to change it...
02:44I didn't try to change it because I panicked.
02:45I was like, if I change it, then they're going to be curious as to what was wrong with what
02:49they were watching.
02:49Oh, you might try to change it.
02:50What if you were trying to change it and a couple of the kids went, wait a minute.
02:53Wait a minute.
02:54I want to watch this.
02:54I know.
02:55I want to watch this.
02:56There was some, like, trust me.
02:58There were some moments where there were...
02:59Not a lot of eye rolling at that one.
03:00No, there was a lot of this.
03:02Yeah.
03:02Locked in.
03:03Like, what's happening?
03:05Yeah, that's way until your kid's a little bit older.
03:07Yeah.
03:07Yeah.
