Jeremy Miles looks to be an early leader in the Welsh Labour leadership race, as he receives a majority of his party’s Senedd members backing. The education minister now has the backing of 16 members. Only him and Vaughn Gething will challenge for the leadership after other names pulled out last week.

Junior doctors in Wales have voted to take part in a 3 day strike in the new year in a dispute over pay. 65% of voters turned out with a massive 98% backing industrial action, which will mean as many as 3000 doctors could remove their labour, mounting extra pressure on an NHS already showing signs of winter pressure.

A man has pled not guilty to taking a protected bird after a video emerged online of a swan being dragged by its neck through Caerphilly. Scott Price, of no fixed abode, was charged with an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside act, and will appear before Newport crown court on 23rd January 2024.
