00:10 My only vision was to bake and to bake for a living.
00:15 And within that, what was implied
00:19 was-- the reason baking was my answer
00:22 was because I wanted to be on the move.
00:27 I like to be on my feet.
00:28 I wanted to be creative.
00:30 All things that were a little against the grain,
00:32 at least for the way that my folks raised me
00:35 and what they thought being passionate about your profession
00:38 meant.
00:40 But I knew that I wanted to professionalize myself
00:45 in an environment where the ball was always bouncing around
00:48 and there was always opportunity for me
00:51 to bounce around with it.
00:53 Not in a vision-- not in a lack of vision way
00:58 or a lack of direction way, not in chasing a ball
01:01 like a golden retriever, but rather
01:02 that I had the opportunity to not just say,
01:05 it's this straight and narrow path
01:07 and that's all there is to it.
01:09 And to this day, I'm not going anywhere
01:11 by any stretch of the imagination.
01:13 But to this day, I'll play the game in my head of like, OK,
01:16 if I retired, what would the--
01:20 my answer just continues to be this, I'd bake.
01:22 If something were to ever happen anywhere,
01:25 if a change were to ever come in my life, what would I do?
01:28 What would I do differently?
01:29 What would I want to do that I'm not doing right now?
01:32 My answer is basically, just do the thing you're doing now.
01:36 And I think that in my older age is really reinforcing
01:41 that what I've been building to and this idea of following
01:45 the things that get me excited, that get you excited,
01:49 that get you up in the morning, that those things add,
01:52 they build up, they add on, they build on
01:54 to making it seem like you've done all this stuff.
01:56 But it's not about checking a box.
01:58 It's just a collection of great family members, great friends,
02:02 great people in your life, or this great business that's
02:05 a totality of those things.
02:07 But it all goes back to bake.
02:08 For me, it all goes back to baking and the inherent spirit
02:11 of baking.
