Joe Ferguson bought three golf nets from the internet at different price points to see if you really do get what you pay for.

00:02 And I've bought three home practice nets from the internet

00:05 at three very, very different price points.

00:07 And I'm gonna put them through their paces

00:09 and see what I think of them.

00:10 (upbeat music)

00:13 Right, so let's start with the cheapest

00:17 of the nets that I bought.

00:18 And this is the Galileo Golf Net.

00:20 And this came in under $80.

00:22 $79.99 I paid for this.

00:25 It was a little bit disappointing on delivery.

00:26 It took a little bit over a week to arrive,

00:28 which the other two were a little bit quicker,

00:30 if I'm honest.

00:31 But when it got here, I was really impressed.

00:33 Comes in a really nice, comfortable carry case,

00:35 not too big, nice and lightweight and mobile.

00:37 And the construction is really solid.

00:39 It's super easy to put together.

00:41 Got two fiberglass poles here that crisscross at the top

00:44 that just go through these material slots.

00:47 And that supports the whole frame.

00:48 It's just simply a case of threading that through,

00:50 crossing them over, and essentially it's built.

00:52 Then you pin it down in each corner

00:54 and you've got your golf net.

00:56 What I also like about this is the extra stability

00:58 they've added with this sort of baffle here.

01:00 That serves two purposes.

01:01 A, it gives you a target to shoot at,

01:04 and B, it just provides a little bit more insurance

01:06 if a powerful shot were to burst through a net at any point.

01:09 It's got two layers to get through,

01:10 which I like as a slightly anxious golfer myself.

01:14 So yeah, I mean, as a whole, really, really impressed.

01:17 It's got some side safety.

01:18 So if you do hit a stray one off either way,

01:21 you've got a bit of side help.

01:22 And also it's got a slight roof to it again.

01:24 So if you hit one slightly higher than you intended to,

01:28 you've still got that safety net,

01:29 it's a literal safety net to stop the ball

01:31 doing anything you don't want it to do.

01:33 So for under $80, seriously impressed with this net.

01:36 Right, so onto the more mid-price point net that I purchased.

01:40 This is from Forb Golf, and this is their Pro Pop-Up Net.

01:43 And I paid $139.99 for this, and it had a $9.99 delivery charge.

01:49 Super impressed with the delivery time.

01:51 It was on the doorstep within 48 hours, which is great.

01:54 Came in a lovely little kit, little bag,

01:56 easy to transport, and super lightweight as well.

01:59 So what do you get for your $139.99?

02:01 Well, compared to the Galileo, you

02:03 get a bigger surface area to hit at,

02:05 which is something that could be important to some people.

02:08 What you don't get is you don't get the side panels or the roof

02:10 panels to stop those stray ones that go a little bit high

02:13 and a little bit wide.

02:14 The nets have really good quality,

02:16 and you get a little banner strip along the bottom

02:17 for anything you thin too low.

02:19 It's not going to scoot off underneath the net.

02:23 Really easy to put together.

02:25 It's just basically slotting three poles together

02:27 into prefabricated angle pieces here.

02:30 And then the net just clips on at all four corners,

02:32 and then you just stake it to the ground.

02:34 So in terms of delivery time, ease of setup,

02:38 and quality of product, the net's a really nice quality.

02:42 Nothing's going to go through there.

02:43 Felt very confident hitting anything through that.

02:45 I think that's a really good product for the price point.

02:48 Right, OK, onto the final net, and the most expensive one

02:50 that I purchased.

02:51 This is from Spawnier Golf, and this is their Academy

02:54 Commercial Bundle.

02:55 So it doesn't just come as the net.

02:57 It also comes with a very high quality mat and teeing area.

03:00 Nice and thick, and really absorbs the impact.

03:03 And also comes with some additional side panels,

03:05 in addition to the ones you can see here,

03:07 that come back a little bit further, just to give you

03:09 that extra security for any wayward shots you might hit.

03:13 In terms of delivery time, again, super, super impressed.

03:15 Within 48 hours, I think this was the first of the nets

03:18 to arrive, actually.

03:19 Came in three boxes, obviously because of the mats, the nets,

03:23 and the side panels.

03:24 They all came separately.

03:25 But yeah, super quick, and probably out of all of them,

03:29 the easiest to put together.

03:30 Once you pull it out of the box, it

03:31 came in a very sort of disc bag.

03:33 And as soon as you pull the net out of the bag,

03:35 it just kind of--

03:36 tension explodes itself into life, into the right shape.

03:39 So there's very little work you have to do.

03:42 After that, all you've got to do is

03:44 put these two little side posts in to prop it up vertically,

03:47 and you're pretty much all set up.

03:49 Actually, there's one more piece you can put in,

03:51 which I did, which gives you a little bit more stability,

03:54 a little bit more safety for anything that goes a bit high.

03:56 So there's kind of an arched fiberglass pole

03:58 that goes through there that keeps that into place.

04:00 So those are the only two bits of work you really have to do.

04:03 Then you just locate the net, put your pegs in,

04:05 and it's set into place.

04:06 And it does come with a few more features,

04:09 as you would expect, for the price point.

04:11 So we've got some seriously thick archery-grade baffle

04:14 here, which has a target on, which

04:15 is great for the visual, but also

04:17 for the security of any balls that might pop through.

04:20 And I promise you, nothing's getting through this.

04:22 And if it did, there's another net behind there as well.

04:25 So super secure and really, really gives good peace of mind

04:28 that you're not going to be hitting through balls

04:30 through into your neighbor's garden or anything like that.

04:33 The bottom of the net also here is higher at the back,

04:35 and it's angled back towards us.

04:36 So as soon as the ball hits the net,

04:38 it wants to roll back close to you,

04:39 just for ease of collection.

04:41 I think, as I said as well, I was really impressed

04:43 with the mat, really high quality, very thick,

04:46 really absorbs the strike.

04:47 And that's going to be really hardwear.

04:49 You can just feel that's a really high quality

04:51 piece of kit.

04:53 So yeah, it is more expensive, significantly more expensive

04:56 than the rest.

04:57 But there are a lot more features.

04:58 And I would say it does give you real peace of mind

05:01 that the stability of this net will go the distance.

05:03 Right, so there you have it.

05:05 Those are my thoughts on the three home practice nets

05:07 that I purchased at three very, very different price points.

05:10 Now all I've got to do is get them away

05:12 before my wife gets home.
