interesting so I've just got this very random text from Neil asking me to go and play the
00:13
most dramatic hole in the UK that sounds like a fascinating challenge one I'm definitely
00:17
excited to take on big question is where do I go there are a few that really spring to mind
00:22
but there's one that's definitely I think standing out head and shoulders above the rest so I think
00:29
it's time to pack the suitcase and get to the airport right so in case you hadn't guessed it
00:47
I am at Trump Turnberry and I think this golf course or one of the golf courses here has one of the most
00:53
spectacular holes in the entire UK I'm really excited to play it going to be doing that tomorrow but
00:58
it's worth just touching on Trump Turnberry as a result as you can see here I do think this
01:02
resort has a lot of wow factor got the spectacular hotel behind me which really takes your breath
01:06
away when you see it for the first time that slope going up to it you've got the helipad there to
01:11
take someone very important somewhere they need to go and just underneath that just over the road
01:15
here we've got this beautiful miniature pitch and putt course which it looks an awful lot of fun to
01:20
play and there is an awful lot of things to do at this kind of resort besides the actual golf courses
01:25
there's shooting activities there's whiskey tasting you can do all sorts of fun stuff off the golf
01:31
course but of course it is the golf that draws people in and there's three courses here at Trump
01:35
Turnberry you've got the Arran which is a short a really fun nine hole golf course really test your
01:40
short game but there are some long holes on it as well then there's the King Robert the Bruce which
01:44
is definitely a championship golf course looks quite tight a lot of course lining those holes so it could
01:50
be quite tricky off the tee I'm going to be playing that later on today but of course it's the Ailsa
01:54
course the championship course that everyone wants to play when they come to Trump Turnberry and I
01:59
think one of those holes is the most dramatic in the UK
02:02
morning today's the day I play the most dramatic hole in the UK in my opinion the sun is out well it
02:25
will be it's very early at the moment this should be a really exciting day I just hope I can do it
02:32
justice what makes a hole dramatic what's the criteria that I'm going for here well I think it
02:38
needs to be visually arresting I think it really needs to metaphorically make you take a step back
02:43
and really stir the senses whether it's obviously what you see but also maybe the sound of the waves
02:49
crashing against the coast a bit of wind I think it needs to be challenging as well I think it really
02:54
needs to test all your skills and that makes it more satisfying if you play it well but also lets you
03:00
go off the hook if you play it badly so yeah kind of a win-win situation but I think I found the
03:07
perfect candidate here at Trump Turnberry obviously there's a lot of different candidates I could have
03:12
picked yes the ninth hole at Royal County down you've got the 18th hole at Trump Aberdeen maybe
03:18
the 16th hole at Royal Port Rush that calamity corner par 3 is an epic hole but I think the one
03:25
that ticks the most boxes for me is this one at Turnberry on the ninth hole I'm really excited to show it to you
03:30
come on
03:30
so two holes in two bogeys but it's always the case when you play these amazing courses
03:53
the occasion often gets the better of you very nervy stuff but I've just hit it quite close in two on
04:00
this path for third hole so potential birdie upcoming
04:04
well just absolutely smoked one down the eighth fairway alas made quite a few bogeys and lost a golf
04:26
ball after that lovely birdie I made on the third but the anticipation is really rising now walking up
04:33
the eighth fairway the lighthouse sweeps into view and the landscape becomes a bit more dramatic
04:39
hopefully they'll let me hit a shot off the championship tee on this ninth hole but if not
04:46
it will still be a very spectacular hole nonetheless but let's see if we can make a par even a birdie on
04:54
the eighth and then even better on the ninth
04:56
jump
04:57
so
05:02
so
05:04
so
05:05
so
05:10
Wow, a bit out of breath, I had to dash and hit that shot off that very back tee, not
05:35
technically open but, director of golf, let me have a quick hit. Is it alright, just slightly
05:40
down the left, I think it went in the bunker, if it made the carry, it was touch and go,
05:46
but yeah, that is a brute into this wind, 240. Spectacular view though, let me show you.
05:59
What a hole, unbelievable. Alright, spoiler alert, my tee shot with the driver off the
06:14
championship tee, did not make the carry, never to be seen again, and with my proper
06:20
ball off the members tees we're playing off today, managed to three putt from the front
06:25
of the green for a four, so I've not covered myself in glory but I did birdie the eighth
06:29
hole before that, and it doesn't really matter, it's hard not to enjoy your golf when you come
06:35
into a hole like this, and we've obviously been blessed with the weather like this, it's
06:39
unbelievable, there's hardly a cloud in the sky, obviously it's very windy but the sun
06:43
is out, and after all that drama, I think it's about time we go and visit one of the most
06:49
spectacular halfway huts, in the world of golf, the lighthouse, got my beef pie, I'm all over
07:14
view for it. Okay, so that concludes my playing on the most dramatic old big golf in the UK,
07:20
the night of the morning of the outdoors, and then the Tambourie, Trump Tambourie, unfortunately
07:24
didn't quite make a par, didn't quite make the carry with the driver, but it was a lot of fun
07:29
hopefully, coming along with me, but that's all for me, Trump Tambourie, sweet.
07:35
I'll see you next time.
