00:00 I don't know. Sometimes it's all too much.
00:03 What is?
00:04 Life.
00:06 Welcome to WatchMojo!
00:08 And today we're counting down our picks for the most intense, profound, or visually stunning moments on Family Guy.
00:15 Spoiler alert!
00:16 Well, now you know everything, Lois.
00:19 Which of course means I have to kill you.
00:21 Number 10. Peter Griffin vs. Homer Simpson.
00:27 It was me!
00:29 [Music]
00:32 Of course, we were expecting a lot of clever material throughout the Family Guy/Simpsons crossover.
00:38 But nothing like this.
00:40 The Griffins visit Springfield and run into the Simpsons.
00:43 But the meeting ends in disaster when the patriarchs do battle.
00:47 What are you saying?
00:48 I'm saying the Simpsons suck!
00:50 What, you?
00:51 In a showdown modeled after the famous chicken fights,
00:54 Peter and Homer brawl in the street, on a school bus, and inside the nuclear power plant before turning into superheroes.
01:01 And that's not even the end of the fight.
01:04 The very idea of Peter and Homer finally sharing the screen left us amazed.
01:09 But this sequence left us speechless.
01:11 Not only is it beautifully animated, but it honors the history and lore of both shows.
01:17 Worst chicken fight ever.
01:20 Number 9. Christmas Season.
01:22 I am so excited to see Santa Claus.
01:25 You know what I think is really wonderful?
01:27 Of all the malls in this great country of ours, he chooses to come here, year after year.
01:32 Only Family Guy could warp bright Christmas cheer into gloomy misery.
01:36 Despite its rather jolly holiday theme, Road to the North Pole is undeniably one of the show's darkest episodes.
01:43 Brian and Stewie discover that the North Pole is an industrial wasteland filled with mutated elves,
01:48 carnivorous reindeer, and a sick Santa Claus.
01:52 I'm Stewie Griffin, and I'm going to kill you!
01:55 Oh, thank God.
01:57 Vowing that he is not fit to deliver the presents, the duo do it themselves,
02:02 but end up committing a violent home invasion.
02:05 Yes, the episode has a happy ending, but both we and the characters have to endure a lot before we get there.
02:11 This was one house! We've been here for an hour and a half!
02:15 An hour and a- First of all, we're not even Santa anymore. This has been a home invasion.
02:19 But an hour and a half, Brian!
02:20 Number 8. Brian sacrifices himself for Peter.
02:24 Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! What's up, party people?
02:27 Ah, what the hell are these things? Curtains or something? Boring!
02:30 Holy smoke, it's crowded in here!
02:31 -Ow! -Yeah, right, that's terrific. That opens up the whole room.
02:34 Season 9 offers a devastating one-two punch in Road to the North Pole,
02:38 and its immediate follow-up, New Kidney in Town.
02:41 Peter becomes addicted to energy drinks and attempts to make his own using kerosene,
02:46 believing that literal fuel is what gives its drinkers energy.
02:50 Well, it doesn't, and Peter immediately collapses from kidney failure.
02:54 Peter, that drink will kill you.
02:55 Brian, whatever kills me makes me stronger.
02:57 See, Brian? I feel great!
03:02 Wanting to save his best buddy, Brian decides to sacrifice himself and donate both of his kidneys.
03:08 It's an incredibly touching sentiment, and one we never thought we'd see on Family Guy.
03:14 Things get even more emotional when Stewie kidnaps Brian,
03:17 not wanting to lose his trusty canine companion.
03:20 For such a goofy show, this episode packs a lot of heavy material.
03:24 Look, I've made up my mind, alright? Now untie me.
03:27 No, I will not! How dare you make plans to abandon me!
03:30 Oh my God, what's with Meg's voice?
03:35 She sounds like someone who's about to give up a huge opportunity.
03:38 Family Guy has always been very creative when it comes to time travel,
03:41 and it has never shied away from poking fun at itself.
03:45 Both combine in amazing fashion with season 10's Back to the Pilot.
03:49 Brian and Stewie travel back to January 31st, 1999, the day that Family Guy premiered.
03:55 While there, they remark on the shoddy animation,
03:58 the awkward use of cutaway jokes, and Meg having a different voice actress.
04:02 Ew, I remember this! Peter's eye did that weird creepy thing where it went over his nose.
04:07 Come on, you're worrying about nothing.
04:09 Oh, remember when you got drunk off the communion wine at church?
04:13 But the fun doesn't stop there.
04:15 As Brian and Stewie continuously interfere with the episode's events,
04:19 like stopping the Kool-Aid man from bursting through the courtroom wall,
04:22 Back to the Pilot is smart, inventive, and hilarious.
04:26 You're the Kool-Aid guy?
04:27 Yeah.
04:28 What are you doing?
04:29 Just waiting.
04:30 For what?
04:31 I'm just waiting, dude. Relax.
04:33 And that's where you got the pig, in a parallel universe.
04:38 Prepare yourself, Brian, and I'll show you.
04:40 Forget time travel. Let's talk the multiverse.
04:43 Road to the Multiverse opened the eighth season in breathtaking fashion,
04:47 with Brian and Stewie traveling through a number of parallel universes.
04:51 The result is not just comedy gold, but a smorgasbord of visual delights.
04:56 They travel to a number of unique locales,
04:58 each one more imaginative and impressive than the last.
05:01 This can't be it. This doesn't look familiar.
05:03 You're right, Brian.
05:04 Apparently, this is a universe where everyone has to take a poop right just now.
05:10 Some are done for laughs, others purely for style,
05:13 like the Disney universe that could easily pass for a long-forgotten film Pride from the Vault.
05:18 And it's not just devoted to Family Guy viewers who loved it.
05:21 The episode won the Emmy for Individual Achievement in Animation,
05:24 the ultimate seal of approval.
05:26 Where are we?
05:27 I don't know. The device can't make heads or tails of it.
05:30 It's just some sort of weird, low-resolution, blocky universe.
05:34 We still can't believe he's gone.
05:38 He was such a great mayor and a great uncle to the kids.
05:42 Wait, Uncle Adam is dead?
05:44 Eesh, how many people is this show killed?
05:47 Family Guy doesn't often get sentimental, but when it does, it does so surprisingly well.
05:53 Season 17 closes out with Adam West High, in which the beloved Mayor West passes away.
05:59 The episode aired nearly two years after the real Adam West died
06:03 and served as a tribute to the late actor.
06:05 As the title implies, James Wood High School is renamed Adam West High,
06:10 and the episode ends with a montage of live-action footage honoring the beloved performer.
06:15 It's a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to the show,
06:19 and a great way to say goodbye to a legendary character.
06:22 And while you do that, I'll make a special video dedication reminding people of how great Mayor West was.
06:28 What are you doing?
06:32 I'll teach that hussy to go on a boat ride without me.
06:35 There was a time when Stewie repeatedly tried to end Lois.
06:38 While this subplot has long been abandoned,
06:41 it was a major driving force of the early seasons and culminated with this two-part television event.
06:47 The first half, Stewie Kills Lois, seemingly ends the subplot when Stewie takes down Lois with gunfire.
06:53 What are you... what are you doing with a gun?
06:56 Something I should have done a very long time ago.
06:59 But Lois survives the attempt and reciprocates, resulting in a battle for the ages.
07:04 Of course, we didn't actually think that Lois was dead,
07:07 and besides, the ending reveals that this was all a computer simulation concocted by Stewie.
07:13 But we still couldn't believe that the show went there.
07:16 So what you're saying is that what you experienced in the simulation didn't really happen or even matter?
07:21 Yes, that's correct.
07:22 So it was sort of like a dream?
07:24 No, it was a simulation.
07:26 Number 3. Diane the Killer
07:28 What are you saying?
07:29 I'm saying James Woods isn't the murderer.
07:32 The murderer.
07:34 Is one of us.
07:36 Who?
07:37 It's not rare for Family Guy to do themed episodes,
07:40 and season 9 opened with a parody of classic murder mysteries.
07:44 Specifically, Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None".
07:47 And like all great murder mysteries, it ends with a startling twist that leaves her jaws on the floor.
07:53 Oh no, I... so was I, but you know, I really, I should... I should go.
07:58 No, I don't think so.
08:00 Lois discovers that news anchor Diane Simmons was behind the killings,
08:04 and she in turn is killed by Stewie when she attacks Lois.
08:07 The twist was great, but what left us truly speechless were the deaths.
08:12 Unlike other themed episodes, this one took place within the show's actual continuity.
08:18 You shouldn't have stopped to say hi to me. You would have lived longer.
08:21 God, why do I ever try to be friends with other women?
08:23 Number 2. Stewie Loves Brian
08:26 Was kind of saving it, but what the hell, right?
08:29 Saving it for what?
08:30 It's not important.
08:31 The dog and the baby have always been a popular duo, and they are often the subjects of their own storylines.
08:37 Brian and Stewie is an experimental chapter of Family Guy, without cutaways, but with a heavy dose of drama.
08:43 The titular characters undergo significant developments,
08:46 with Brian revealing some dark secrets and Stewie coming into his own as a friend and companion.
08:52 In a surprisingly tender moment, the baby admits that he loves Brian and would be lost without him.
08:57 Maybe even...
09:00 deeper than that.
09:02 I...
09:05 I love you.
09:06 It's always a shock when Family Guy plays sentimental,
09:09 and it's even more of a shock hearing it come from Stewie, of all people.
09:13 The episode's dramatic tone was widely praised, and it's due to unforgettable moments like this.
09:19 To begin my life with the beginning of my life,
09:22 I record that I was born on a Friday at 12 o'clock at night.

09:42 Number 1. Brian's Death
09:45 God, look at this day, huh?
09:46 You know, usually I'd be sitting inside writing, you'd be working on one of your machines, but...
09:51 here we are enjoying it.
09:52 This show had us going for a while.
09:54 Season 12's 'Life of Brian' is perhaps its most infamous half-hour,
09:58 featuring the startling death of Brian Griffin.
10:01 The dog is hit by a car while playing street hockey with Stewie,
10:04 and he later dies in the hospital after saying goodbye to the family.
10:08 Stupid street hockey. I wish we never went to that dump.
10:12 Oh, this is all my fault.
10:13 Not only is the moment played completely straight,
10:16 but it's a realistic scenario that many people have been forced to endure.
10:20 The episode ends with the Griffins adopting a new dog,
10:23 leading some viewers to believe that he was permanently gone.
10:26 Of course, that wasn't actually the case, as Stewie brings him back to life just two episodes later.
10:31 You're alive, my friend!
10:33 What? Of course I'm alive. What the hell's going on here?
10:36 Brian, that car killed you.
10:38 And when it did, a little part of me died as well.
10:41 Did any of these moments leave you speechless?
10:43 Let us know in the comments below.
10:45 You know what I want for Christmas?
10:47 I want my friend back.
