00:07 This is an event that we organize from year to year and it is very successful.

00:14 Because we have a calendar filled long before the workshops themselves.

00:21 These are workshops organized for groups. Usually early school groups come, class 1-3.

00:31 And they make gingerbread for children.

00:36 And what is it about? How do these workshops look like?

00:41 At this time we have such Christmas exhibitions.

00:45 So children, apart from visiting these exhibitions, learn about the traditions of Christmas,

00:53 about the Christmas tree, about what Christmas Eve looked like, because it changed over the years and centuries.

01:06 And the most important part are the workshops themselves.

01:10 They take an active part in the workshops. First they listen to what spices were used for gingerbread,

01:16 how it was seasoned, how the dough was made, where the name of gingerbread dough came from.

01:23 And then they go to work, help make the dough, then mix it, roll the dough and cut out individual cookies.

01:34 The biggest surprise is that children did not have as much sweets as they do today.

01:43 They were also given as a Christmas gift for children, along with nuts and apples.
